Trail Report – : Manitowish Waters, Wisconsin – March 15, 2019

Reporter:Manitowish Waters Chamber

Trail Conditions: Good

Snow Cover: 25-35 inches

Date of Report: March 15, 2019

Area Report:

The warm up has melted some snow, but we didn’t get as much rain as predicted! It is soft due to warm weather. Today I would call our trails fair to good in the woods, but stay tuned. If you’re planning a weekend trip up, I would still come up. Temperatures have cooled a bit, and a chance of snow Friday. Cooler temperatures tonight, into the upper 20’s and 30’s for highs over the weekend with the lows in the upper teens. Some trails may have soft sections so use caution but there is still some riding to do out there! A big thank you to all of our groomers for doing such a great job this winter!

News and Reports:

A huge thank you to all donors, sponsors, volunteers and those who came out to the Rendezvous 2019.  It was a huge success!

Snowmobile Information:

The Manitowish Waters Sno-Skeeters snowmobile club was founded in 1968 and is one of the oldest snowmobile clubs in existence today in Wisconsin. Located in the very northwest corner of Vilas county, Manitowish Waters borders the Lake Superior snow-belt country. With average snowfalls of 150 inches and over 25 miles of professionally groomed trails, the area is one of Vilas County’s top winter vacation areas.

The Manitowish Waters trail system is a unique hub network directly linking into 5 other trail systems. With Minocqua/Woodruff to our south, St. Germain/Eagle River to our southeast, Lake Gogebic to our north, Presque Isle/Winchester to our northeast, Mercer and Hurley to our northwest and Lac du Flambeau/Price County to our west, our area residents and guests can choose from a variety of daily or overnight destinations for scenic riding with excellent pit stops along the way.

The Manitowish Waters Sno-Skeeters maintain an active grooming schedule for the area’s trail system. Coordinated efforts with the surrounding communities provide continuous smoothly-groomed trails in this northwest sector. The Sno-Skeeters own and operate some of the newest grooming equipment on the market today. Support the club by attending their special events or contributing to the “trail pigs” at local establishments along the trails. Or show your support by becoming a member!

Enjoy, and please ride responsibly and safely!

Trail Report – : Three Lakes – Brule River, Wisconsin – March 15, 2019

Trail Conditions: Good

Snow Cover: 10-15”

Date of Report: March 15, 2019

Area Report:

Here are your current conditions
Our trail system is still open. The lastest we can stay open is till March 31st due to our agreements with private landowners.

Rain earlier this week has depleted some of our snow. Things are firming up and trails will be good in the woods. The lakes are going to wet and slushy. We were able to groom everything prior to the rain. The roads will start to get bare again. Watch out for deer, if you come upon them, please give them some time to get off the trails. Use extreme caution at road crossings, snow banks are high and tough to see cross traffic. Stay on the trail on the lakes, if you get off, you will get stuck.

Please stay on the trail, or you have a good chance of getting stuck. You must yield to the groomers, they have the right away. It is much easier to get a sled unstuck then it is a groomer.

Please, slow down and limit your drinking. Way too many fatalities in northern Wisconsin, and they all can be prevented.

Lakes are all marked. Remember, stay as close to the barrels as possible. If you don’t see barrels, assume they are not safe.

Please respect our private landowners and stay on the trail. We have had a couple issues this year already and it always puts our trails in danger.

Use caution at all road crossing as they are icy.

Check our Facebook page for information about the new hoodies and T-shirt’s we have for sale.

Trail Conditions: Poor

Snow Cover: 12 inches plus

Date of Report: March 15, 2019

Area Report:

We are not closing the trails as of this point, however, due to the rain and warm temperatures, they are in poor condition.  All grooming has been suspended since the trails are soft and slushy.  Be prepared for the unexpected…there is some standing water…yet there is also ice and slush.  Use caution.

The bunny in the box is still out there.  Many of you have narrowed it down to a certain area, however, with all the snow this year, it is obviously buried.  This is worth many $$$$$’s!!!

Trail Report – : Boulder Junction, Wisconsin – March 15, 2019

Reporter:boulderwi

Trail Conditions: Fair

Snow Cover: 24-36 inches

Date of Report: March 15, 2019

Area Report:

Trail report for March 15, 2019– Trails are fair. It is about 20 deg above zero and it is snowing very light. The last two days with the rain and warm temps really took a toll on our trails. Out away from town the snow is very clean, less traffic and melting slower. The trails have turned very icy. Trails at road crossings and road routes can be bare. At road crossings snow banks are still very high with lowered visibility. Please use caution. With decreased control on icy trails please watch out for other riders. We are expected to have overcast skies today and temps in the 30’s so the trails might last a little longer. This coming week with warmer temps could badly degrade the trails. We will have to wait to see. Remember to be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.

Cross Country Cruisers Trail Report 3-14-19

The weather we have been experiencing this week in Cruiser Country has not been kind to our trails. With temperatures into the 40`s during the day and some rain, trails have deteriorated some.

Look for road routes and trails in and near town to be in poor condition.

The Cruisers did groom Tuesday night and got all the trails flat and packed the best we could. Trails in the wooded areas should be fine for this weekend for some late season riding. Temperatures will be dropping into the 30`s for highs and the teens for lows.Early morning and night riding is when you will find the best conditions.

Cruisers are going to adjust their grooming schedule to Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights.

There will be some trails like 47, 10/70 in town and trail 11 groomed very early in the am.

Please use caution on trial 10/51 just north of intersection 305 for there is some logging going on. Please respect the loggers and stay to the right.

The long term forecast is not showing any signs of the warm weather to be going away and we expect more trails to deteriorate next week. Get out and ride if you can for things do not look to improve in the near future. There is a lot of ice on top of snow from the rain and not much lube for the slides and coolers today with below freezing right now, once it warms up there should be snow for cooling
