Trail Report: Boulder Junction, Wisconsin – January 2, 2017

Trail Conditions: Fair

Snow Cover: 5-10 inches

Date of Report: January 2, 2017

Area Report:

Boulder Junction Area Snowmobile Trail Report for January 2, 2017: Happy New Year! All trails in the Boulder Junction Trail System has been groomed in the last 24 hours. Our groomers have done a great job over the weekend with the heavy traffic and the snow they had to work with. There are still bare and icy corners and some sections of our trails with very low snow. Use caution. The trails are fair to good for early season riding. We do need more snow and we are expecting 1” to 3” in the next day along with colder temps. If we do get the additional 3” of snow it will really improve the conditions. Remember be safe, ride right and enjoy the ride!

Trail Report: Sayner, Wisconsin – January 2, 2017

Trail Conditions: Fair

Snow Cover: 3 inches average on the trail

Date of Report: January 2, 2017

Area Report:

Traffic was extremely heavy over the New Year’s weekend. That was spectacular to see for our awesome area businesses!!!

We groomed every day this past weekend to try to keep up with the heavy traffic. On the average things are in fair condition. Some sections are great and a few not so great. I spoke with many riders and none had a complaint!

Most area lakes have been marked. Stay by the markers when crossing!!!

There is supposed to be a system beginning to move through the area later today. We are supposed to see perhaps up to 3 inches and some freezing rain. While you might not like to hear about rain – a little rain is good for adding badly needed moisture to our snow base. Then in perfect timing the temps are supposed to drop like a rock again Wednesday. IF this works out right – we could have some spectacular conditions by next the end of this week. (I will update this report Wednesday or Thursday to report how much snow we received.)

Logging continues on a few sections of our trail system. Watch for logging ahead signs and SLOW DOWN!!! Watch for signals from the loggers and obey them. DO NOT hassle them. If they are bothered or hindered too much in any way – please keep in mind – they have the right and option to shut that section of trail down!!! Please be patient. If you don’t want to wait – turn around and go another route.

Please ride safe! Slow Down and Ride Another Day!!!
