Due to rapidly deteriorating conditions and the presence of large areas of running water on the trails, the entire Langlade County snowmobile trail system will close effective immediately.

Corridor 9 south of intersection 24 at Polar to intersection 26 and all trails south of Hwy 47 will close immediately due to the lack of snow cover and standing water.
Section B will also remain closed.
Section A will remain open until further notice, but may close with little notice if the winter storm predicted does not produce adequate snowfall.

We got 2″ of heavy wet snow last night, we are supposed to start getting substantial snow tonight through tomorrow. I am heading out soon to check conditions and will update later today. If we get the snow they are talking about, we should be able to get out and Pan the trails tomorow night. At that point our trails could possibly be upgraded to fair. but lets see what happens

Good Morning Sledders!!!!!…..After another night of Thunderstorms….Woke up to 3 inches of “New Snow” this morning…..We have anywhere from 6-12 inches of Snow coming from Tonight -Saturday night….We will resume grooming On Friday to see what can be done….Most low areas on our trails have standing water….Temps will be in the low teens at night….hopefully the low areas freeze up….I will post an update tomorrow and Saturday…..

Lincoln County snowmobile trails are PARTIALLY OPEN.Lincoln County trails in Zone 2 and Zone 3 are closed. Zone 1 remains open for the time being but is bare and considered very poor. Corridor 19 and Trail 86 in Zone 1 are CLOSED. Ride at your own risk.
All ATV trails are closed in Zone 2 and Zone 3 and the trails always close when the temperature is above 28 degrees
Oneida County snowmobile trails are OPEN. Trail conditions are considered in poor condition. Ride at your own risk.
The Tomahawk area is expecting snow later tonight and all day on Friday. Please check back as this report is updated as conditions change.
Trail Report: Keweenaw Peninsula / Houghton-Hancock, South Range, Copper Harbor, Michigan – February 23, 2017

We are back in business. Groomers are out on all trails getting them back in shape after the high temps and million riders from last weekend. All trails are open except #122 between Lake Linden and Gay, because of logging. Stay off of this! You can take the trail as far as the Dreamland trail so that you can go out to Dreamland, but no farther. Trail #133 between Gay and Lac Labelle is rough, be prepared if you take this trail. We got about an inch of snow last night so parking lots have a covering but main roads are mostly bare. Forecast is for temps below freezing for the weekend and snow every day starting tonight. Lake effect will kick in tomorrow, so no telling how much snow we will get. Then snow next week too. After the groomers have gone over all the trails, they should be in good condition. The only reason they were in poor condition is because the groomers couldn’t go out since Saturday and there were so many riders out there.
Remember to respect private property and others on the trail, stay on the marked, groomed trails, stay off all water unless its marked for crossing, slow down, and save the drinking for after the riding!

Trail Report: Ely, Minnesota – February 23, 2017

Ely Area Lakes & Trails: Area trails have a base ranging from 0-4” and are rated as poor. Anticipate rough trail conditions as trail grooming will not commence until temperatures drop below 20 degrees and we receive 6-8” of new snow. Area lakes will have areas of slush. Remain on staked trails when traveling across lakes. Creeks and low lying areas may have open or standing water.
Echo Trail: Fenske Lake and other short trails along the Echo Trail are staked.
Taconite Trail: Snow – 5-15” depth Base – 0-4” Groomed – yes Condition – poor The entire Taconite from Ely to Hwy 73 is in poor condition. There is a small section of open water between Big Aspen and Pfeiffer Lake that is flagged, signed, and passable.
Arrowhead Trail: Snow – 8-18” depth Base – 0-4” Groomed – yes Condition – poor The entire Arrowhead is groomed and in poor condition. Use caution when crossing the bridge in the Lost Lake swamp due to thin ice and open water. This bridge is located two miles north on the Arrowhead from the Hwy 1 crossing.
Putnam-Fishing Lakes Trail: Groomed – yes Condition – poor
Lake Vermilion State Park and Soudan Underground Mine State Park: Groomed – yes Condition – poor
Taconite Spur Trails and Stony Spur Trails: Base – 0-4” Groomed – yes Condition – poor
Tomahawk Trail & Local Trails: Base – 0-4” Everything is groomed. Some light logging activity is occurring in the Spruce Road and Hidden Bay areas, so please slow down and use caution. These areas will not be closed or posted. Trails are in poor condition. Mud Lake to Vermilion still has a swampy area that has not frozen, so the unfrozen area is not currently groomed.
