GOOD TO VERY GOOD RIDING
Another perfect day to go sledding in Eagle River! Trails are on average GOOD to VERY GOOD riding condition. Plenty of SNOW on all of them. That included the sections of trails that run on a road. Truly amazing! Went out to ride yesterday. Check my report out at the end of today’s report.
Grooming last night with the BR-180 Bombardier. Headed out to go north & a bit west grooming from the Groomer Barn on Bluebird Rd. Trails 10W, 13/3N & 17N. Then headed back to town grooming the in town “grade” heading south to groom 3S(formerly 13a/Alt13) to the Three Lakes connect.
- Trail 1N has a logging operation in the section between the Town of Washington Town Hall & Eagle Lake. Clearly marked with signs.
- Wisconsin River Trail – 10W/13N & Manske Swamp – 3N There are rough spots but it is frozen tight. All SNOW covered
CATFISH LAKE LOOP & EAGLE LAKE TRAILS ARE NOW BOTH MARKED AND OFFICIALLY OPEN. PLEASE STAY BY THE BARRELS TO BE SAFE. VERY HARD SURFACE. NO SLUSH. REMINDER THE CATFISH LAKE LOOP TO LUMPY’S IS NO LONGER A TRAIL.
Yesterday got out to ride & the trails were GOOD to beyond EXCELLENT. Trail 10E crosses over our driveway so we headed across Hwy 70E to pick up 10 heading east. Fueled up at Nobbe’s North and then continued heading east on 10E. Trails were in GOOD shape. Connected to Trail 11S that heads to Three Lakes. Trail 11S was VERY GOOD to EXCELLENT. Met the Three Lakes Trails John Deere groomer. He was nice enough to back up so we could get around. Gave him a thumbs up. After we went around the groomer the trail went from VERY GOOD to super EXCELLENT! A small section were you work your way to Big Stone Lake was a little rough but that area has big pines & it’s harder for snow to get in. Crossed Hwy 32 & headed toward Three Lakes coming into town from the south on the “grade” VERY GOOD. Took the “grade” north toward Eagle River. EXCELLENT to GOOD shape. Stopped by the Ice Castle in town for early supper at Friendship House. Then back onto the “grade” to the 3S/10E intersection. Took 10E heading home. The section from from Loon Lake Road to our house on the south side was a little rough so rating it FAIR. Had a great time. Nothing better than an afternoon of riding.
If you are riding zip on over to the “grade” to check out the 2018 Eagle River Area Fire Department ICE CASTLE!!!! Located adjacent to the downtown “grade” trail by the Historic Railroad Grade. The lights installed change colors. Check out this link Eagle River Ice Castle to check out more photos. Darn pretty!
