Trail Report – : Minocqua, Wisconsin – December 26, 2018

Reporter:minocqua

Trail Conditions: Closed

Snow Cover: 3-4

Date of Report: December 26, 2018

Area Report:

Weather reports are all over the place depending who you listen too, Accuweather says could be 8 inches and weather underground says 2-4, local stations say 4-8 .  The problem is Thursday we might get some rain mixed in to cut down on our snow totals, We are very close to the snow rain line so hard to figure what we end up with, the trails are still closed until we get some decent amount of snow so we will have to wait and see what happens tomorrow. As far as the trails go we have a problem by the bridge on lake Minocqua so stay away until it is marked for safety. Big Arbor Vitae and little Arbor Vitae are marked, Squirrel was not marked as of yesterday but had plenty of ice so I would expect they will be out soon marking it.. I will update to see what happens tomorrow so keep doing snow dance.

Trails are closed!

There is talk of a major winter storm coming mid next week. I’m not getting our hopes up just yet. If if does happen, it should be enough for us to pack, groom, and open our trails. We are in a wait and see pattern. We will post more updates when we know more. Have a great Christmas

Trail Report – : Rhinelander, Wisconsin – December 23, 2018

Reporter:Hodag SnoTrails

Trail Conditions: Closed

Snow Cover: Not Enough

Date of Report: December 23, 2018

Area Report:

Trails are still closed in Rhinelander and Oneida County. All of the clubs are busy inspecting, packing and finishing up signing the trails.  It takes a ton of work to prepare the trails each season.  Just a snapshot of the work it takes, the Hodag Snotrails had to redeck 4 bridges, replace 4 culverts, and countless trees had to be removed.  Please support your local club, they can use the help.

There is snow in the forecast for Wednesday – Friday.  It is a few days out, but it is the best looking forecast we have seen in the past few weeks.

We will keep everyone up to date as the forecast firms up, and if there is any news on a trail opening.

Merry Christmas, Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow
