Area Report:

Hello Riders!

Most of Sawyer County received approximately 5-6″ of fresh snow in the last snowfall on Monday. The temps continue to be below freezing and that is what we need to firm things up again after the low temps and rain last weekend. The northern part of the county has SOME GOOD trails (like the Seeley Hills Area) in the county forests however in low spots there is standing water. The southern area is reporting a lot of standing water and slush. Due to this all grooming in Sawyer County continues to be on hold until the cool temps can firm things up. Some groomers have been out to test the trails but find it will do more damage than good so they will stay off until hardened. We are asking your help to ride and pack the trails, this packs that fresh snow in so it freezes and sets. We ask that you ride the width of the groomer, approximately 8-9 feet apart. This trail packing is so important to aid in getting groomers back out so grab your sleds!

The Tuscobia from Ojibwa to Winter will temporarily be CLOSED due to the extreme slush and standing water. Barricades will be put up. Also from Clover Rd to Price County also has a lot of standing water and slush. A spot west of Loretta and 2 east of Draper also reported slush. If riding in this area especially in the evening do so with extreme caution. We are not recommending riding in this area right now until more freezing.

Also, trail 17 North of Nelson Lake to Gordon in Douglas County is CLOSED due to slush.

Trail 21 closed from junction 101 north to Hwy B near forest road 177 is CLOSED due to a low spot filled with water

Please do not go around locked gates, reports of some doing this. They are locked for safety reasons. In addition to being unsafe yourselves you could mislead those following your tracks as well as upset land owners which can in turn force them to not give us permission to their land. Woodhaven Resort is reporting this happening all too often on trail 18 near Callahan. These gates are locked for extreme safety reasons. Thank you.

Please no lake or swamp riding until further notice as well.

Keep checking back as we will continue to update!
