ricelake_newbanner

Trail Conditions: Closed

Snow Cover: 3-5 inches

Date of Report: December 20, 2016

Area Report:

Barron County Trails remain CLOSED at this time until we receive additional snow.  However, Wild River and Tuscobia state trails are open as always and freshly groomed.  With warming temps this week snow may diminish.  We have no anticipated date of the county trail opening at this time until we receive more snowfall to create a firm base and lakes continue to freeze.  Keep checking back!!

Trail Report: Conover, Wisconsin – December 20, 2016

Trail Conditions: Fair

Snow Cover: 8″-9″ in the woods

Date of Report: December 20, 2016

Area Report:

As promised I am got out this morning & rode 47 miles. Traffic was non existent (2 deer & 0 sleds). My route was from town 45S to 13N running the “D loop”. Then 13N into Land O system to 6 & turned around. Followed 45N to 8E/8W intersection. At this intersection (#718), the center fork is 8E but somehow is labeled 8W. The brown signs are correct. I’ll try to get this sign corrected soon. Ran 8E to the power lines and the Land O/Phelps intersection & back. Then rode the grade east to Twin Haven via the new trail; Trail is nice except for the last 3/4 mile where it turns off the grade. This last section must be ridden slowly. Returned to town via 3 into the park.

I’m rating the trails overall as fair. Some areas were good but I want to be conservative. There were no wet spots but a few rocks & logs sticking thru and periodic snirt areas. Lakes are not marked yet, stay off until they are marked.

News and Reports:

Don’t forget you need a WI trail permit to ride the state’s groomed trail system. Aggressive riding causes more trail damage than slower, less aggressive riding. Until the base gets built up & we get more snow to work with, groomers can only do so much to repair damage.

Trail Report: Crivitz, Wisconsin – December 20, 2016

Trail Conditions: Poor

Snow Cover: 5 to 7 inches

Date of Report: December 20, 2016

Area Report:

TRAILS ARE OPEN, but in EARLY SEASON condition.  Groomers went out to pan all the trails and tried to fill in as many ruts and holes as they could.  As a result, the trail has many bare spots and are considered in poor condition.  On the good side of this, the snow did help to fill in and flatten out the trail which we need to do every year before conditions can improve.

This has been a very busy summer and fall, working on permits to improve our trail system.  The Twin Bridge Park area has some huge changes thanks to the Marinette County Parks Department and Wisconsin DNR.  We have been able to take care of a culvert extension along Parkway Road north of County X.  We also, just finished the largest problem area in the park.  The swamp hole coming off the bridge has been rerouted slightly for a much safer trail.  We put in a culvert there allowing our groomers to get through, even early in the season!  Also, north of Twin Bridge Campground, were we had a wetland issue, but thanks to the new landowner, we were able to reroute with few problems to improve that area.  Landowners are such a big part of our trail system.  When you see them, thank them, wave and give them thumbs up!  Remember, use of their property is a privilege, not a right!

The Oconto county area of the trail has had our loyal excavator very busy.  He has bulldozed from Holtz Ranch Road north and over to LaFave Road, then…from Chickadee Road west to Boat Landing 11 Road.  He was even out there on Sunday, trying to stay ahead of the cold weather.  THANK YOU VERY MUCH…

In addition to the new John Deere tractor that we purchased last year, we have now purchased another New Holland tractor for even better trail grooming.

Do the snow dance!!!

News and Reports:

TRAILS ARE OPEN!  We received five to six inches of snow throughout the evening and more is on the way later today.  Please do not cross any waterways until they are marked.  The ice is NOT safe yet.  The gates are all open and the groomers will be going out on Monday.  Expect early season riding.

Sno-Eagles Trails Open
Fair to Good Early Riding Condition

Groomers were out last night. Manske Swamp which is the section of Trail 3 from Trail 17/3 heading west to Trail 10/13 has been frozen and open but not groomed.  Same for the WI River Bridge, Trail 10/13.  The temps are jumping up a bit so will have more on that area tomorrow.  When we go out to ride.

Catfish Lake Loop and Eagle Lake Trails are still closed as of 7:45am.

Oneida County Trails are opening at noon today.  This means Three Lakes & Sugar Camp trails will open.  Keep in mind if you run into a barrier or see signs of trails closed do not go that way.  Lakes in many areas are not safe or open.

Looks like best chance for SNOW is Wednesday, Christmas Day and the day after, Monday.  Weather guys forecast 2 inches+ plus tomorrow.

Grooming Schedule – Should be grooming everyday this week. Weather permitting. Stay tuned!

Trail Report: Stephenson County, Illinois – December 20, 2016

Trail Conditions: Good

Snow Cover: 8 to 10

Date of Report: December 20, 2016

Area Report:

Just a quick up date. Jimmy has 95% of our trails groomed, the only parts not dragged yet are off Jane Addams going towards Lena to the Pec river (should be good as it is bean fields) and short part just before Cedarville but everything else is done. BAD NEWS is it is to get up to 40 and rain so if you can you better get out and ride.

PLEASE REMEMBER TO RIDE SAFE AND STAY ON TRAILS or we can loose them.

A BIG THANK YOU GOES OUT TO JIMMY FOR ABOUT 20 HOURS IN THE GROOMER IN  THE LAST 2 DAYS
