Trail Report: Crivitz, Wisconsin – December 27, 2016

Trail Conditions: Early Season

Snow Cover: 8 to 10 inches

Date of Report: December 27, 2016

Area Report:

We did get some warm weather, wind and sun yesterday, but there is still enough out there to groom.  Our groomers are out there right now.  Most of the trail should turn out great.  Ill have to let you know when the groomer guys report in later today.

This has been a very busy summer and fall, working on permits to improve our trail system.  The Twin Bridge Park area has some huge changes thanks to the Marinette County Parks Department and Wisconsin DNR.  We have been able to take care of a culvert extension along Parkway Road north of County X.  We also, just finished the largest problem area in the park.  The swamp hole coming off the bridge has been rerouted slightly for a much safer trail.  We put in a culvert there allowing our groomers to get through, even early in the season!  Also, north of Twin Bridge Campground, were we had a wetland issue, but thanks to the new landowner, we were able to reroute with few problems to improve that area.  Landowners are such a big part of our trail system.  When you see them, thank them, wave and give them thumbs up!  Remember, use of their property is a privilege, not a right!

The Oconto county area of the trail has had our loyal excavator very busy.  He has bulldozed from Holtz Ranch Road north and over to LaFave Road, then…from Chickadee Road west to Boat Landing 11 Road.  He was even out there on Sunday, trying to stay ahead of the cold weather.  THANK YOU VERY MUCH…

In addition to the new John Deere tractor that we purchased last year, we have now purchased another New Holland tractor for even better trail grooming.

Hope to see you all on the trail…

Posted by Club President – Barry Hopkins –
Just took a quick ride. The snow has settled a bit but are holding up just fine. In fact the freezing rain/snow we had last night is going to set up tonight into a great trail base as temperatures continue to drop. It has been windy so use caution, slow it down a bit and be on the look out for branches on the trail.

We don’t have any trails on the lakes, but I am urging you to stay off of the lakes: Warm weather & the weight of the snow has formed a lot of slush on top of what little ice we have.

We hope Santa was good to you! Have fun and remember to signal oncoming snowmobilers as to how many are behind you.

Trail Report: Stephenson County, Illinois – December 27, 2016

Trail Conditions: Closed

Snow Cover: 2″ To 3″

Date of Report: December 27, 2016

Area Report:

With all the warm weather and rain we were forced to CLOSE our trails, it is to bad because we had all our trails groomed and had built a GOOD base but it is gone and we will have to start all over. When we get snow and the trails open again PLEASE remember to throw a few bucks in the trail boxes that are around as you know that in the last 2 years the clubs have not had much help from the State Of Illinois so all the grooming fuel was out of our pocket, so please pitch in and as always PLEASE stay on MARKED trails and Ride Safe. When we get change I will update.
