Trail Report: Rhinelander, Wisconsin – January 23, 2017

Trail Conditions: Good

Snow Cover: enough, but soft

Date of Report: January 23, 2017

Area Report:

Surprisingly, we have made it through the January thaw without losing the trails.  I went out and ran a good portion of our trails yesterday and was pleasantly surprised how good they were.  Everything in the woods was good with a little snirt in the corners and exposed areas.  The road routes are thin and/or icy.  The lakes are full of slush.  Stay close to the barrels for best running.

We pulled the groomers off to hold the base, and it worked.  There was very little sled traffic, so the corners didn’t get tore up from the soft conditions.  Overall, we came out of this okay.

There is snow in the forecast for Tuesday night, so we could be in good shape for a rebound from the warm-up.

The club just bought a new groomer, so they are itching to get it out, and get the trails in world class condition.

Please stay on all marked trails!!  Join a local club, they can use the support.

Trail Report: Boulder Junction, Wisconsin – January 23, 2017

Trail Conditions: Poor

Snow Cover: 8-10

Date of Report: January 23, 2017

Area Report:

Trail report for January 23, 2017-Trails are poor. With the temps in the mid 30’s to the mid 40’s and the on and off rain this past weekend the trails have really degraded. The corners and around town have bare spots with slush and puddles. We are down to our base and that is starting to get soft. The logging areas are very bare. Out in the woods it’s not too bad but our groomers can’t get out with these warm temps to do any good. We do have a snow storm system coming in late Tuesday and Wednesday with 3” to 5” of snow and then some colder temps expected. If this happens we will be out grooming. We need snow and cold weather!!!  Please be careful out there! Remember be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.

“Pleasantly suprised” is what I am hearing from the riders today (Sat., Jan 21). I would call our trails fair/ poor. This is from a family and the wife talking, so Guys, put on your “big boy pants” and suck it up. The rain has stopped, yes there are some bare spots, but we still have snow. ALL KIDDING ASIDE, lets hope we get some cooler weather soon and some more snow…. ‘Cuz I Wanna ride!

Our next club function is Sun Feb 5th Breakfast at the Pea Patch 8am-noon and drawing for Guns and Roses! tickets available at area businesses. Then It’s time to Rendezvous Sat Feb 18th at Rest Lake.
