Trail Report – : Crivitz, Wisconsin – February 8, 2018

Reporter:ironsnowshoe

Trail Conditions: Good

Snow Cover: about 6 inches

Date of Report: February 8, 2018

Area Report:

Trails are in VERY GOOD condition.

We have been out there riding and its getting tough to find anything wrong with these trails.  The snow last weekend is greatly appreciated.  Now we only need a little here and there to freshen up the trail.

Our groomer guys have been out all week long.  These guys have done an awesome job.  REMEMBER:  Groomers have the ‘RIGHT OF WAY”.  Maybe give them a thumbs up or a friendly wave.  These guys spend a lot of long hours keeping these trails as good as can be.

Have fun and drive responsibly…

Trail Conditions: Good

Area Report:

February 8, 2018 – 7:50am

                                                              TRAILS GOOD TO FAIR

Sub zero temps continue overnight.  14 below at 7:50am   Partly sunny to cloudy today.  Trails are GOOD for the most part.  FAIR in some areas where there are more icy corners.  It’s Thursday & time for the Sno-Eagles Guided Trail Ride.  Meet President Rusty at 9am at the Ice Castle on the “grade” trail.   Time to get out and ride!

Trails are very icy under the SNOW.  With the amount of  loose SNOW on top you will notice the back end of your sled slipping around.  So slow down to be safe.  Corners everywhere are icy.  Some covered with SNOW. Others blown out with high berms so slow down so you can stay on your side.  Stay on the right side always. Not only on the corners but straight aways & hills.

Wednesday’s are spot grooming nights.  Grooming heavy traffic areas & “grade” trail through Eagle River.  Tracking system shows the following trails groomed:

  • 10E to Bloom Rd
  • 10W/13N to connect with Conover Trail 3
  • 3N – Manske Swamp
  • 17N to 3N intersection
  • Spot sections of 70W/13S
  • Grade through town

Still many families in the area.  Did notice a few more groups yesterday.  Many enjoying a first taste of riding in Eagle River, THE SNOWMOBILE CAPITAL OF THE WORLD®  Not many places you can go where you can park your tow vehicle.  Hop on your sled going everywhere you want without having to use that tow vehicle for your entire stay!  It’s quieter making mid-week riding the best.  Come on up & try it!

Here are a few continuing reminders on the trails:

  • Trail 1N logging operation continues in the section between the Town of Washington Town Hall & Eagle Lake.  Right now there are logs in piles along sections of the trail.  With the log piles and icy grainy conditions in that section it would be good to slow down.  Very icy corners.

CATFISH LAKE LOOP & EAGLE LAKE TRAILS ARE NOW BOTH MARKED AND OFFICIALLY OPEN.  PLEASE STAY BY THE ORANGE REFLECTIVE BARRELS TO BE SAFE.    REMINDER THE CATFISH LAKE LOOP TO LUMPY’S IS NO LONGER A TRAIL.

Yes the Ice Castle is still up!  If you are riding zip on over to the “grade” to check out the 2018 Eagle River Area Fire Department ICE CASTLE!!!!  Located adjacent to the downtown “grade” trail by the Historic Railroad Grade.  Ice benches as part of the Castle let you take photos of your group.  Check out this link Eagle River Ice Castle to check out a video of the Ice Castle building.

Next on the Winter events schedule is the 13th Annual LaBatt Blue Pond Hockey set for this weekend, February 9-11 on Dollar Lake east of Eagle River.  You can ride there by sled. Take Trail 10E to a left onto Chanticleer Trail at Hwy 70E Road House.  Check out the is link LaBatt Blue Pond Hockey for info.

Keep Dancin’!

See ya on the trails!

Our groomers have been out in full force this week. The trails are in very good to excellent condition. We still have been have below zero temps at night which has made for a hard flat base. You may find a icy corner or two, so use caution. Temps are starting to get into the mid teens over the next week and that will makes some very enjoyable riding. Get out and ride now before it’s gone.

Trail Report – : Cable, Wisconsin – February 7, 2018

Reporter:officecoordinator@cable4fun.com

Trail Conditions: Fair

Snow Cover: 3-6″ Base

Date of Report: February 7, 2018

Area Report:

Check your local lodging and dining establishments for the 2018 Cable Area Motor Head Maps!

Trails have a good base of 3-6″ and are fair in areas to very good in others. The heaviest used areas may have some brown mixed in, but are grooming well. Riders can expect some icy corners and a few bare spots in heavily ridden areas.

Temperatures are forecasted to remain below freezing through the weekend, with overnight lows below zero. There are not any sizable snowfalls forecasted this week.

Areas of concern are still Trail 90 east between Old Grade and Federal Rd! Follow reroute signs and watch for logging trucks. Another area is Trail 15 between Club Lake Rd and Camp Eight Rd at the Great Divide, watch for heavy ice over the trail due to a spring that continues to spread water across and down the trail!
