All snowmobile trails are open and in excellent condition. We received about 10 to 12 inches of snow countywide on Monday night. All trails are being groomed on a regular basis. Please stay on marked lake trails for your safety.

Trail is in GOOD condition!

All three groomers have been out the last two days. They are going out again tomorrow night.

Although we did get 7 inches of snow, some areas are thin because the snow is stuck up in the trees! Also, a few areas need more snow to fill in ruts from summer traffic.

Get up here and ride now. It’s beautiful out there!

Another busy weekend with a lot of traffic, with the snow we received the groomers now have some good snow to work with. We have been getting great reviews with Trail 182, and Trail 10 and 12B to the Flowage are in excellent shape as well. On Saturday the Sno-Goers have a Cookout Fundraiser at Dear Lodge starting at 11AM, all of the events help the club raise money to groom the trails, please stop out and support the club and remember to ride safe!

Area Report:

All of the Washburn County snowmobile trails are OPEN! The snow event of January 22nd resulted in 2 inches of new snow in the northern part of the county, while the southern sections of the county received 7 to 9 inches of the fresh white stuff. Trail conditions are currently good, with a 5 to 12 inch groomed base. Always use caution on the trails as you may encounter active trail grooming equipment. Enjoy the trails!

Snowmobile trail report for January 24, 2018: VERY GOOD CONDITION. With the additional 9 inches plus of snow we got the trails turned out very good. The Groomers were out and groomed our entire trail system in the last 24 hours. We will continue to groom throughout the week. With all this fresh powder snow it can create washboard humps on the trail quickly with just an average amount of traffic so hit the trails early. We are also expecting warmer weather towards the end of the week which can deteriorate the trails. The active logging operations have very little snow and can have logging equipment on the trails. Corners can still be bare and icy. Please stay on marked trails. Remember to be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.

Well from our winter storm we had gotten 4-10 inches of snow. Watermeet getting 7-10″ snowfall. We will have warmer weather on Friday but temps will go back to normal on Saturday. Overall conditions are good.

PLEASE STAY ON TRAILS. WE HAVE BEEN GETTING COMPLAINTS THAT SOME HAVE NOT BEEN STAYING ON TRAILS, RIDING ON UNMARKED TRAILS CAN LOSE EASEMENT FOR OUR TRAIL SYSTEM SO PLEASE STAY ON TRAILS!!!!!!

THE GOGEBIC RANGE TRAIL AUTHORITY REPORTS:
01/24/2018
After our busy weekend groomers are back out day and night getting the trails in shape. The focus will be on the main corridors first and then they will focus on 11S and 160.
Please stay on your side of the trails, we want everyone to be safe.

Trail 2 from Hurley to Ramsay US-2 Crossing is good to very good. This was last groomed this morning. You will still encounter some thin spots along with icy corners. Use caution when riding.
The rail-bed trail ENDS on the east side of the Keystone Bridge. The club grooms the bridge to maintain it for local access. The “old” trail to Wakefield is closed east of Verona Road. Tickets will be issued if you ride on this closed trail.

Trail 2 from Ramsay Crossing to Wakefield is fair to good. The trail by Sunday Lake in Wakefield is thin and has icy corners.

Trail 2 from Wakefield to Marenisco is good to very good. Watch for icy corners from Wakefield to US HWY. 2 trail crossing.

Trail 8 from Bingo’s to Tula Crossing is good to very good. Please stay on your side of the trail and use caution on corners.

Trail 160 from Walmart to Montreal River(WI) is good to very good. This is a very scenic trail with spectacular views. ENJOY!! There is logging near the Lake Road area, please slow down, remember logging trucks have the right of way.

Trail 11S is fair to very good. There are still a few thin spots on this trail and it also needs to have more brushing done. Please use caution. Once you cross the bridge within 2 miles there are some rough spots, they are snow covered but we still need more snow.

LAKE GOGEBIC AREA GROOMER REPORT:
Trails are in good condition. Groomers are out getting the trails back in shape. Please be patient. The groomers are out doing the best they can.

U.P. THUNDER RIDERS OF WATERSMEET GROOMERS REPORT:

Trail Report – : Eagle River, Wisconsin – January 24, 2018

ALL SNOWMOBILE TRAILS GOOD

The SNOW that started Monday afternoon into Tuesday morning left 6-9 inches wet packy SNOW! Overnight the temps dropped into the single digits so not going anyway for now. High today will be in the low 20’s. Get out & ride! Today is Wednesday which means a Sno-Eagles guided ride with Ron. Meet at the Ice Castle by the Historic Railroad Depot at 9am. Ron’s rides are always the best!

Lots of grooming in Eagle River last night. Groomers headed out about 3pm. Much of the system was groomed to include 10W/13N, 7N & S, 17N, 1, 70W, 7S to Kathan Inn, 13S, 3 and parts of 10E.

Was out riding yesterday after lunch and there is plenty of SNOW on the trails. We rode before grooming start so with grooming have to believe trails are in really, really good shape. Left our house heading west on 10E to the “grade” & into town for a meeting north of town. Then continued north on 10W/13N crossing Wisconsin River Bridge. That area was frozen hard and pretty smooth & no slippery spots. No slush yesterday. Took 13N to Hwy K area picking up 8W. Rode that to 7 in the Sayner area. Took 7 to where it connects with 70W heading east toward Eagle River. At the 70W 3S intersection we headed back on the “grade” to 10E and home. All in all trails were in GOOD ungroomed shape. A few icy corners. More riders out that I expected. Rode about 80 miles.

Here are a few continuing reminders:

Trail 1N logging operation continues in the section between the Town of Washington Town Hall & Eagle Lake. Clearly marked with signs.
Wisconsin River Trail – 10W/13N & Manske Swamp – 3N are being groomed off & on. Found 10W/13N to be in really good shape. Not slush, rough spots or icy conditions.

CATFISH LAKE LOOP & EAGLE LAKE TRAILS ARE NOW BOTH MARKED AND OFFICIALLY OPEN. PLEASE STAY BY THE BARRELS TO BE SAFE. VERY HARD SURFACE. SURFACE SLUSH MIGHT DEVELOP WITH THE NEW HEAVY WET SNOW. REMINDER THE CATFISH LAKE LOOP TO LUMPY’S IS NO LONGER A TRAIL.

If you are riding zip on over to the “grade” to check out the 2018 Eagle River Area Fire Department ICE CASTLE!!!! Located adjacent to the downtown “grade” trail by the Historic Railroad Grade. The lights installed change colors. Ice benches as part of the Castle let you take photos of your group. Check out this link Eagle River Ice Castle to check out a video of the Ice Castle building. Trail Report – : Neillsville, Wisconsin – January 23, 2018

All Clark County Snowmobile Trails currently remain CLOSED. Clubs are busy grooming trails, but there is such a range of snowcover that was received from the last storm it is undecided when they will open throughout the county. Please be advised that riding on closed trails is trespassing and fines apply.

Snowmobile Information:

Our club has been active for 30 years now. We started out as a small club in 1988 named The Neillsville Rec Riders, designing ATV routes that accessed the Clark County Forest Trail System, via roads. We then created our first cross county ungroomed snowmobile and winter ATV trail system from Neillsville to Granton. In 1993 we purchased a used Bombardier groomer to start grooming our trail for snowmobiling. In 1996 we expanded our snowmobile and winter ATV trail system from Neillsville to the Clark County Forest Trail near Hatfield.

In 1997 we added a tractor and new drag to our grooming fleet to keep up with the grooming schedule. In 1999 we further expanded our growing trail system with a snowmobile trail running from Granton to Sherwood. In 2001 we made a big achievment in trail devolpment by creating a snowmobile trail from Neillsville to Loyal, giving us a total of 56 miles in groomed snowmobile trails across private lands. In 2002 we had to add a second tractor and drag to keep up with the high grooming demand. After receiving heavy, drifting snows during the ’06-’08 seasons while continuing to get stuck with our tractors, we felt the need to add a newer tracked groomer to our fleet.

We purchased a Piston Bully trailer groomer to keep up with the demanding trail grooming where our tractors fell short, in deep snow and eliminated 1 tractor and drag! We groom our trails 20′ wide where ever possible and they are the best marked in the county, you won’t get lost on our trail system! In 2010, we had to cease the operation of winter ATV use on all of our snowmobile trails, due to increasing abuse from disrespectful ATV’ers creating problems on private lands. Moving forward in 2011 we strive to keep up with the best snowmobile trails in the county and that is out main focus moving on. Upgrading in 2017 we purchased a 2007 Pinoth BR180 tracked groomer to supplement and someday replace out Piston Bulley.

The Clark County Forest ATV and Snowmobile Trails are maintained by the Parks and Forest Department as well as the 9 other clubs that maintain the rest of the trails in Clark County. Our club would not be where it is today without the help and permission of the 89 landowners who allow us to cross their lands. With out them we would have no trails. All of our members that help out, donate their time and it is much appricated when we get compliments on how well of a job we have done.

Trail Report – : Superior – Douglas County, Wisconsin – January 23, 2018

As is typical for this time of year, certain trail segments can be opened and others are not ready yet due to wetland crossings and/or have restrictions due to private land easements. It is critical that we respect the landowners who allow us to use their property. Please review the information below carefully before trail riding and confirm that you are using open trails.

Please note, certain trails or only segments of trails may be open at this time. We anticipate frequent updates as the clubs begin grooming and report on trails they’ve checked. In all areas where winter recreation trails are closed, our clubs are actively working to get the trails open.

Trail Report 1/23/2018

NE Quadrant
Trails took a beating this last weekend with the warmer temperatures and high traffic.

All Brule River Rider trails are groomed except for Trail 35 (Wild Rivers Trail) which will be groomed this week.

Logging Areas: There is a logging operation in progress off Trails 27, Bayfield 24, Trail 4 north of Lake Nebagamon off Degerman Road, and along the east/north of Hawthrone. These logging operations cross our trail system near Hawthorne several times, and signs have been upgraded in that area. There is also a small private logging operation ongoing by the Covered Wagon in Hawthorne. Conditions in this area are a little thin in some places but trails are beginning to shape up.

Please note that the Lake Superior Ice Festival is this weekend at Barkers Island in Superior. Please watch for additional traffic and vehicles parked near the trail. Trail 2B (By Barkers Island) is a little light on snow as of 1/23/2018.

Trail 4 is a little dirty near Highway 53 and west of Highwy L, but is in good condition near the swamps.

Trail 6 currently has good snow cover on South Shore Grade Road.

Trail 27/27A has a few icy corners; much of the trail is still in good condition.

NW Quadrant

All trails in this quadrant are open and are in good condition! All trails have been groomed recently except for the Crosstown Route which is scheduled for grooming on 1/25.

Logging operations continue on Trail 4 and Trail 41 between Bear Creek Bridge and Wanek Road. On Trail 4 between Brietzman Lake Road and Big Balsam Road are also experiencing logging activity. Brushing is ongoing in these areas that are not accessible until this time of year. Please use caution and watch for equipment on these grails.

Please note – the parking lot located off Tuff Road is closed for the season and there is no trail access from the lot.

**A segment of the Crosstown route (Trail 2) from Bardon Avenue East to Grand Avenue will be temporarily closed from Monday 1/15 through Sunday 1/21 for construction activities. No through traffic will be available during this period.**

SW Quadrant

All Cozy Corner Trails are open and groomed and are in good condition. Some areas are still in need of more snow, please use caution where snow pack is low. Please stay on the trails and keep our landowners happy!

SE Quadrant
The trails in this quadrant are all open.

Trails 35N, Trail 41B, Trail 41S, Trail 35S, Trail 7 and Trail 27 are all scheduled to be groomed by 1/23.

Wascott Trail 3 is in good condition and has been groomed, however needs additional snow to improve conditions.

Trails 217 and Trail 17
Trail 217 is in good condition.
Trail 17 is from Cabin lane to Trail 8 is in good condition.

Douglas County Ski Trails
The Douglas County Cross Country Ski Trails have been groomed and tracked as of 1/23/18. Additional grooming is scheduled by the end of the week.

The Superior Municipal Forest Cross Country Ski Trails have been groomed and tracked. They are in good condition at this time.

Brule River After Hours Ski Trail is groomed and tracked and is in good condition.
