Trail Conditions: Fair

Area Report:

Overall I would say our trails are fair to good. Had a great ride yesterday! Trails are still good in the woods and shaded areas but trails that run along roads are getting snow dirt mix. The grade through Mercer was still ok yesterday – the sun will take a toll on exposed areas. Watch the weather and I will update often this week. There is a chance of snow Thursday! RIDE SAFE.

News and Reports:

A huge thank you to all who attended the Winterfest Rendezvous and those who purchased tickets on our Arctic Cat Raffle. Congratulations to winner Dave Mueller! Dave is a club member and helps out at Our Duck Race!

Thank you to all of our volunteers that made our event a huge success! Some of these guys took 2 days off of work to help set the tent and organize everything. This is a lot of work, but so rewarding to know that it went so well! Proceeds from the Winterfest and raffles go towards trail maintenance!

I am proud of how everyone pitched in to make this such a great event: from the people and businesses who donated raffle items, to those who attended and purchased raffle tickets and especially the volunteers! We look forward to next years events!

Snowmobile Information:

The Manitowish Waters Sno-Skeeters snowmobile club was founded in 1968 and is one of the oldest snowmobile clubs in existence today in Wisconsin. Located in the very northwest corner of Vilas county, Manitowish Waters borders the Lake Superior snow-belt country. With average snowfalls of 150 inches and over 25 miles of professionally groomed trails, the area is one of Vilas County’s top winter vacation areas. The Manitowish Waters trail system is a unique hub network directly linking into 5 other trail systems. With Minocqua/Woodruff to our south, St. Germain/Eagle River to our southeast, Lake Gogebic to our north, Presque Isle/Winchester to our northeast, Mercer and Hurley to our northwest and Lac du Flambeau/Price County to our west, our area residents and guests can choose from a variety of daily or overnight destinations for scenic riding with excellent pit stops along the way.

The Manitowish Waters Sno-Skeeters maintain an active grooming schedule for the area’s trail system. Coordinated efforts with the surrounding communities provide continuous smoothly-groomed trails in this northwest sector. The Sno-Skeeters own and operate some of the newest grooming equipment on the market today. Support the club by attending their special events or contributing to the “trail pigs” at local establishments along the trails. Or show your support by becoming a member!

Trail Report – : Price County – Park Falls, Phillips & Prentice, Wisconsin – February 27, 2018

Area Report:

All Price County snowmobile trails are open and in good condition with plenty of base. Some trails were groomed Sunday and Monday, and they are in very good to excellent condition. Road routes are becoming bare. We received a total of 10 inches of new heavy, wet snow as of Saturday night, but warms temps are predicted for this week and conditions can deteriorate quickly. Detailed trail condition reports can be view on our website at pricecountywi.net.

Some Price County trails are on private land. The use of the private land is a PRIVILEGE, not a right. Please stay on marked trails, especially across fields. There have been many complaints from landowners due to snowmobilers not staying on the trail and riding all over their fields. To avoid having these TRAILS CLOSED, PLEASE respect the private land that is open to snowmobiling.

Several miles of trail are open for winter ATV and UTV riding including the Flambeau Trail System, Solberg Trail, and Georgetown Trail. The Price County portion of the Pine Line Rail Trail (Prentice to Ogema), Snowmobile Trail 189 (Ogema to Timm’s Hill), and Snowmobile Trails 116, 181 and 118 (Prentice area loop) are also open to winter ATV and UTV riding when the trail is officially open to snowmobile use and the temperature is 28 degrees or colder.

Area Report:

All of the Washburn County snowmobile trails are OPEN! Trails are in excellent condition with a 7 to 13 inch base. Saturday evening brought a fresh 6+ inches of powder. The new snow has been great addition to the already good base and even with the warmer temperatures we are expecting to keep a good base. Please be aware that the base might be a little slim at road crossings as we had a snowy dirt mixture before the new snow. Always use caution on the trails as volunteers are out grooming the trails to keep up with all the new snow we’ve received, please note that some of the trails may not be groomed yet due to the timing of the snow fall. Enjoy the trails!
