Trail Report – : Price County – Park Falls, Phillips & Prentice, Wisconsin – March 12, 2018

Area Report:

Price County snowmobile trails are in very good to good condition with a good base in most areas. Trails are being groomed when conditions permit. The trail is icy in some areas and especially on corners, approaches to road crossings are becoming thin or bare in some areas, and road routes are bare. During March, conditions can improve with snow or deteriorate quickly with sun and warm temps. You can view detailed trail condition reports on our website pricecountywi.net.

Several miles of trail are open for winter ATV and UTV riding including the Flambeau Trail System, Solberg Trail, and Georgetown Trail. The Price County portion of the Pine Line Rail Trail (Prentice to Ogema), Snowmobile Trail 189 (Ogema to Timm’s Hill), and Snowmobile Trails 116, 181 and 118 (Prentice area loop) are also open to winter ATV and UTV riding when the trail is officially open to snowmobile use and the temperature is  28 degrees or colder.

Some Price County trails are on private land. The use of the private land is a PRIVILEGE, not a right. Please stay on marked trails, especially across fields. There have been many complaints from landowners due to snowmobilers not staying on the trail and riding all over their fields. To avoid having these TRAILS CLOSED, PLEASE respect the private land that is open to snowmobiling and stay on marked trails.

Hello Riders!

Well, our trails are OPEN, and in typical spring conditions of warming, melting days… and still cold nights

The wooded trails are GOOD, but the trails through open areas, road crossings, along the roadways have large bare patches.

The lakes are still good, EXCEPT Lake Hayward, which is NO LONGER SAFE, with several areas of open water.

Area Report:

All of the Washburn County snowmobile trails are OPEN! Trails are in fair condition with a 5 to 10 inch base. We have had quite a few days of warmer weather which has taken away from the great base we had at the beginning of last week. The road crossings are slim with a snowy dirt mixture. Always use caution on the trails as volunteers are out grooming daily. Enjoy the trails!

This report is dated Monday, March 12,2018.

All Lincoln County snowmobile trails  are OPEN. The trails are being reported in POOR- GOOD condition. Late Season conditions in most of the area. Lots of icy spots, some roads are bare.  Wooded trails are much better.

Please be aware of trail closed signs, stay on marked trails ONLY and respect private land. Use extreme caution and expect early season riding conditions throughout the trail system.

Trails designated as winter ATV trails in these areas are open for ATV use. All trails are closed for ATV use when the temperature  is above 28 degrees F.

Oneida County Funded Snowmobile Trail System (as administered by the Oneida County Forestry, Land, & Recreation Department)are  OPEN for the 2017-2018 winter season. The trails are in POOR-GOOD condition. Late season conditions in most of the area. Lots of icy spots, some roads are bare.  Wooded trails are much better..

As always, the Oneida County Forestry, Land, & Recreation Department recommends staying on clearly marked trails. Always exercise caution when riding a snowmobile. The trails can be in rough, early season condition. Snowmobilers are urged to stay on marked trails.

Area Report:

All of the Washburn County snowmobile trails are OPEN! Trails are in great condition with a 7 to 13 inch base. The trails are expected to hold their great conditions even with the warm weather that is predicted over the next few days. Please be aware that the base might be a little slim at road crossings with a snowy dirt mixture before receiving 6-7 inches of fresh snow Monday evening. Always use caution on the trails as volunteers are out grooming daily to keep them in the great condition they are already in. Enjoy the trails!

Area Report:

With a little tolerance, 2 days of decent sledding remains, especially if you mix in the U.P. a little. City – 6E 50% in woods good…remainder poor. 6W(Consolidated) 80% still good, some bare spots in the open. 11/14 good/fair, some bare spots. West side to the U.P. is your best bet for continuation of decent sledding. Rainbow Creek culvert on 11(Hwy. O) tricky when crossing. When exiting to the U.P. on 11,… follow the new signs.
