SNO-EAGLES TRAILS OPEN!
Trails Good

February 2, 2019 7:00am – 11 – High 30

Short 2 day warm up beginning today.  Low of 24 tonight.  High of 36 tomorrow with sleet in the forecast in the afternoon. Then on Monday SNOW moving in.  Also forecast for Wednesday & Thursday. Beginning Tuesday temps will be in the teens through the week.

Grooming has resumed.  All in all trails are really GOOD but very icy under the Snow.  Pays to slow down.  Straight away. Curves.  Everywhere.  The sun was out for part of the day so there was some breakdown.  Otherwise trails are in Great Shape!

Will have a report of trails heading west tomorrow morning.  Stay tuned!

Worth repeating is that:

Sno-Eagles Country has 2 areas that have one-way trails.  10E is a one-way trail from the ERRA Sports Arena all the way out to Nicolet Mini Mart.  The other is the 13’s up near Buckatabon Bridge & Bauer’s Dam area.  Clearly marked with DO NOT ENTER signs.  Plus trail signs are backwards if you are going the wrong way.

EAGLE LAKE TRAIL & CATFISH LAKE TRAIL ARE MARKED & OPEN. Stay by the reflective orange barrels.

THINK SNOW!!!

See ya on the trails!

Trail Report – : Rhinelander, Wisconsin – February 1, 2019

Reporter:Hodag SnoTrails

Trail Conditions: Good

Snow Cover: 4-6″ of hard pack

Date of Report: February 1, 2019

Area Report:

The trails are in the best shape of the season.  Everything was groomed with the fresh snow from earlier in the week. With the extreme cold during the middle of the week, the trails set up beautifully.  They are ready to go for everyone to enjoy.

Please stay on marked trails and be safe out there.  There have been way too many serious accidents this season.  Let’s ride within the limits and be able to ride again.

The groomers are out nightly to keep the trails in top shape.  There is active logging on trail 15/17 towards Gleason.  Be aware of thin snow cover in this section and trucks hauling.

Condition: Good to Very Good

The entire Taconite is groomed and in good to very good condition. The trail base between Tower and Ely is relatively thin, and logging is happening just west of Hwy 1, south of Ely.

The spur trail leading from the Taconite to the Oasis Bar and Grill in Britt has been rerouted due to landowner issues. The reroute goes from the Taconite east of Hwy 53 (opposite side from the Oasis) to Peppard Rd, crosses Hwy 53 at the Peppard Rd Jct, and follows the ditch south to Peel Rd and to the Oasis.

Putnam/Fishing Lakes Trail – is groomed and in good condition. Be aware of an open spring just off the trail as you go around Putnam Lake. Also watch out for exposed rocks in a few places throughout the trail.

Lake Vermilion- Soudan Underground Mine State Park Trail- are groomed and in good condition.

Tomahawk Trail – From Ely to Knotted Pine is partially groomed and groomers are hoping to have the trails completely groomed before the weekend. Burntside to Mud Lake is groomed but Mud Lake to Vermilion is not. Teams hope to have everything groomed within the next week.

Arrowhead State Trail

Snow: 14-24”

Base: 2-5”

Groomed: Yes

Condition: Good to Very Good

Cold weather and groomer break-downs affected last week’s normal grooming operations. On the up side, the cold weather helped to keep the trail in good to very good condition. Looking ahead, the trail will be entirely groomed between now and Friday night. Be aware of logging activity on and around the trail going north from Hwy 1 toward Lost Lake swamp. There is also logging activity going north from the Orr North GIA Trail.

Trail Report – : Walworth County, Wisconsin – February 1, 2019

Reporter:Ryan Strand

Trail Conditions: Excellent

Snow Cover: 12-20″

Date of Report: February 1, 2019

Area Report:

Trails are in excellent shape currently with a little more snow and better conditions to the north.  With the big warm up set to begin tomorrow 2/2/19 the trails are set to tentatively close at 4AM on Sunday 2/3/19.  Please keep tabs on our snow phone if you do venture out on the trails in the event things change.  Snow Phone: 262-742-2664.  The snow phone and the Walworth County Snowmobile Alliance Facebook page will be updated first!   Riding on closed trails is trespassing and comes with a hefty ticket.  So please keep tabs on this.  Closing our trails will be in attempt to save some of the great base that we have right now.   Cold temperatures are supposed to return next week.  Hopefully we have a base left by then.  We will survey the trail conditions once that time comes.  Enjoy the next day and a half of snowmobiling in SE WI.
