Cross Country Cruisers Trail Report 3-5-19

Another great weekend of riding here in Cruisers Country.

We talked with many riders over the weekend and all pretty much had the same comments. Wow! I haven’t seen this much snow here for years and the trails are awesome.

Again it was so fun seeing all the riders enjoying the trails and patronizing our area businesses and sponsors!

I will again refrain from reporting on individual trails and say all Cross Country Cruisers trails are good to excellent. We do have some logging operations starting on Corridor 10 and trail 51 just north of intersection 305 just after you cross Hwy 51 N.

The trail is marked with trucks hauling signs so please use caution and stay to the right in this area and please respect the loggers.

The trail still has plenty of snow on it and is groomed, let`s all work together here and be safe!

We are expecting single digit temperatures for the early part of the week and low traffic so it should be some great riding!

Use some extra caution at the road crossings especially in town for the higher snow banks can block some visibility.

It has been a great season and the riding days are counting down so get out and ride and enjoy some of the best riding conditions in many years!

EAGLE RIVERS  TRAILS
On average GOOD to VERY GOOD

March 5 2019 7:16am  – 3 below  – High 10

A bit more SNOW last night that started about 8pm maybe an inch maybe a bit more. It will be cold again today with a high of 10.  Daytime temps will come up on Thursday.  With next forecast for SNOW Saturday night into Sunday.  With the temps coming up some could be sleet.  Will update this as the weather guys adjust their forecast.

Trails are filled with plenty of SNOW.  With the sun out during the day & cold nights there will be some SNOW that gets crusty.  But SNOW is very deep.  With that in mind off trail riding is never recommended & with this deep SNOW doubly so. Corners are in many sections are piled high with loose SNOW.  There is still SNOW on the trail with no blow outs.  Icy conditions on some sections of the road trails.  All in all it’s really GOOD riding out there.  If you are riding sure you noticed that Trail 17N is sitting very high up.  Same with sections of 10E.  Please read my important updates for more info.

Grooming again last night.  The gts.groomertrackingsystem reports the following trails groomed:

10E to include Chanticleer Inn & 9mile trails
1S aka Grampa Grahm
3/alt13 heading south to Three Lakes connect
13 aka the grade through town
13N to the Conover connect
10W/13N up to the Buckatabon/Bauers area
3N aka Manske Swamp
17N

Here are other important updates:

Trail 10W/13N aka Wisconsin River Bridge Trail has reopened.  Please use caution.

There is 1 logging operations going on where there is a need to use parts of the trails. Trail 13N by Deep Lake Rd. Plus utility work on 7 near Sugar Camp on the high line.

The snowbanks at driveway crossing & road crossings are still high. Road crews are still out winging road banks.  Expect some blocked road & driveway crossings.  Please stop & cross with caution.

Still seeing some signs buried in the deep SNOW.

Watch for deer.

EAGLE LAKE TRAIL & CATFISH LAKE TRAIL ARE MARKED & OPEN. Lakes are drifted & lots & lots of slush under the SNOW especially on Catfish Lake.  Drifting on Eagle Lake is much worse than on Catfish Lake.

The 2 one-way trail areas are 10E from the ERRA Sports Arena all the way out to Nicolet Mini Mart.  The other is the 13’s up near Buckatabon Bridge & Bauer’s Dam area.  Please be aware that for now signs will be buried in many locations.  PLEASE BE SURE TO CHECK A MAP SO YOU KNOW THE LOCATION OF THESE TRAILS.

See ya on the trails. Get out & ride it is great out there!

Trail Report – : Sayner, Wisconsin – March 4, 2019

Trail Conditions: Excellent

Snow Cover: Remarkable

Date of Report: March 4, 2019

Area Report:

Anybody that has ridden our system knows we have had equipment issues. Some people that don’t want to give us the benefit of the doubt think we just decided not to groom. However, nothing could be further from the case.

We have been fighting a perfect storm of equipment issues. Our wheel machines were set up for the kind of hard/icy conditions we have had year after year. However, they are not meant to deal with the kind of major snows like we have been getting of recent times. Add onto that – our one track machine went down with a computer related Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) system – problem. We got a loaner and it went down. So we bit the bullet and purchased a new track machine. We took delivery of it a week ago last Friday. The issues with our older track machine also got repaired. So great – we had 2 track machines up & running, we were back in a more normal regular schedule, and getting things back in shape. Well as our Murphys Law Luck would have it, we had another issue with our new machine this time. We had to take our machine from Star Lake down to Sayner to go out and rescue the new unit. We did get the Star Lake unit right back in service but one groomer can only cover so much at one time. We do have nearly 80 miles of trail. The good news is that as of today (Monday 3/4/19) we have the new machine just about ready to go back out again.

We are going to hit it hard tomorrow – with 2 machines – and do our best to get things back in excellent condition. We will hit the trails first that have been the most neglected. We WILL have the entire system ready for the coming weekend.

Believe us – no one hates our system being rough anymore than we do. All we can do is apologize for the rough conditions and we promise to do everything humanly possible to smooth things out again.

Red Arrow Snowmobile Trails (Townsend) – 3/4/2019

It’s -12 degrees in beautiful downtown Townsend this morning. The trails are in excellent riding condition. The groomers were out last night and that was their report. This mornings riders will find the trails hard and and fast!! Get out early and enjoy. Watch for deer on the trails.

Paul Bunyan (Lakewood) –  3/4/2019

Monday 6 am. The groomers were out last night and at 12 below the trails are set up in excellent condition.  There will be awesome trails to ride,  and with the weather forecast for the next couple weeks trails should be great till late in the month.  Be careful for deer and signs that are hard to see do to the depth of the snow. Ride safe !!

Chute Pond Snowmobile Trails (Suring/Mountain) – Chute Pond trails are open, being groomed, and are in very good condition. Grooming will be ongoing- so please watch for them on the trail any time of day or night- and always yield the right of way to the groomers. Stay to the right, and enjoy your ride!

Bagley and Brazeau Joyriders Snowmobile Trails – 2/26/19

B&B Joyriders trails are in excellent condition again this week. The groomers will be out on the trails throughout the week. So be careful for the groomers on the trails. Also watch out for deer on the trails, they are using the trails to move around. If you ride to Suring, the old trail is closed through the golf course, but the trail does go around the golf course by using the side of the road, it will bring you back into town.

Gillett – 2/28/19

Gillett trails are in great shape after last weekends winds. We groomed hard and go through all the drifts, some areas are a little narrower now, but with regular grooming they should be back to their normal width soon. There is lots of snow on the trails now get out and enjoy.

Groomers were out and all trails were groomed multiple times this last week and with 3-5 inches of fresh powder, they should be awesome this weekend. Obviously with a lot of traffic, they will get a little rough. Thanks to our groomer drivers for all their time!  Ride safe and enjoy them while they last.

Lena Snowdrifters-  Trails are open and in good to excellent condition. Grooming regularly.

Chase Sno Chasers Trails – Trails are open and in very good to excellent condition.

Snow Cover: 30-40 inches

Date of Report: March 4, 2019

Area Report:

Trail report for March 4, 2019– Trails are very good. It is currently about 20 Deg below zero. Brrrrr! With the very cold temps at night the trails stiffen up and stay flatter longer. We will be out tonight and tomorrow morning with our groomers to lay down a nice trail for you. With the expected lower traffic during the beginning of the week you should experience a great ride. With the enlarged size of snowbanks use caution at intersection road crossings with diminished visibility. We had a very great successful cabin fever party fundraiser at Gooch’s A-1 Bar over the weekend. I would like to thank Gooch and his staff, all the volunteers, and everyone who came out to support this event. A very special thank you goes out to Jen Beda for her great job and time organizing this event. Looks like we have great snow conditions to last to the ending date of the snowmobile trails closing on March 31, 2019 There will be no extensions! Get out there and ride the trails now. Remember to be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.

March 4th and we still have awesome trails!  I know the snow is a bit much for many people, but all us snowmobilers are really getting in some great riding.

All three groomers are out and reporting back great results.  With the cold weather upon us, these trails will hold up for another great weekend coming up!

There are a lot of deer on the trail because the snow is so deep in the woods.  PLEASE do not chase them.  Take you time…they will get out of the way.  ALSO, PLEASE stay on the marked trails.  The snow is very deep outside of the beaten down path.  We also need to RESPECT our landowners.

Everyone is still looking for the bunny in the box!  Get your clues from the business owners.  Find that box.  It is worth lots of $$$$$$$’s…
