SNOWMOBILE TRAILS IN EAGLE RIVER
Varying conditions – Good, Fair, Poor
Adventure Sledding time of the year

Groomer Tracking Systems (GTS Trails) reports in the last 24 hours there appears to have been some spot grooming.  Here are these locations:

  • Trail 10/13 heading north from the groomer barn to Hwy G
  • Trail 70W has 3 short sections

10 degrees as I write the trail report this morning. High of 15 today & a low of 5 tonight.  Tomorrow high of 21 & a low of 1.  Another temp pop up after that.

Trails have a very hard base with some loose SNOW. East of Eagle River there was about a 1/2 inch of Lake Effect Snow. 10E has a section that is one way from the ERRA Sports Arena to Nobbe’s North.  The trail on the south side heading east is in GOOD condition.  The trail on the north side heading west back to town is in FAIR to POOR condition.  The evil sun burned through the trail. In town trails are frozen & icy. Heading north in the woods there is SNOW cover all of it hard & frozen.  Sections of GOOD, FAIR, POOR.  Same for trails heading west.  No update on Atl13 aka 3S heading to Three Lakes didn’t got down there.  From 10/13 intersection at Willow Rd where 10E heads east looking down Alt13 aka 3S it was SNOW covered.  Try to investigate that to see what trails are like.

Trail Conditions: Closed

Snow Cover: 2-3″

Date of Report: February 26, 2020

Area Report:

Trails are closed due to lack of snow.  We were missed by the big storm this week to the south.  The extended forecast also does not look promising for the next 10 days.  Our trails can open up at any time until the end of March if conditions allow.   If we get some more snow and colder weather in March we will report back.  But right now it does not look promising.  Check back if conditions or forecast changes. Thank you.

Trail Conditions: Good

Snow Cover: 16-22 inches

Date of Report: February 26, 2020

Area Report:

Trail report for February 26, 2020 – Trails are fair to good overall. The present temp in Boulder Junction is 12 above zero and light snow. It is mostly cloudy and should remain overcast and a dusting of snow for the rest of the day. The warm sunny days since the weekend have degraded our trails quite a bit. We have been out grooming last night and the night before when the temps cooled down. Even though there was very little snow to work with the trails surprisingly turned out good. The base is getting very thin but with the limited amount of traffic, cooler temps, and continued cloudy skies the trails should not degrade as quickly. We need more significant amounts of snow and subzero temps to get the trails back in excellent shape but will do what we can with what we got. The corners and other areas are getting bare and very icy. Please use caution! Remember to be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.

Lincoln County’s funded snowmobile trails (County Administrated Trails) are all open.

Warm weather last weekend trails really took a beating. Trails range from fair to good. Also getting a little icy. There are bare spots on southern exposer and the roads are not looking good. Still grooming every night. Please STAY on marked trails, we have had way to much off trail riding with some very upset landowners. Remember NO ATV’s when temperature  is above 28 F.

Trails are in fair-good condition.

All trails are closed to winter ATV use when the temperature is above 28 degrees F.

Be aware of Trail Closed signs, stay on marked trails only and respect private land.

Gogebic Range Trail Authority – Snowmobile & ORV Club Trail Report

Groomers were out last night reporting excellent conditions along trail 2 Ironwood to Marenisco and lake Gogebic.  Bessemer to Wakefield is icy, but thanks to the new reroute riders won’t see much of an issue.  We need some snow in there, which look to come later this week/today.  All in all we survived the warm up VERY well and riders should have excellent riding this week and weekend, minus some short sections around towns.

Groomer Report

Feb 24, 2020

While the warm-up this weekend was not what was ordered – it was nice to see the sunshine – but now – it can go away 😊Groomers have been doing a great job all season at keeping our trails and the Lake Gogebic Area trails held up amazingly well throughout the weekend.     Our temps drops into single digits mid—week with snow in the forecast.    Groomers have and will continue to be out nightly.  We still have tons of snow and more than a 3’ base.    This was a bump and we rode it out well.   Enjoy a great week of riding in the Lake Gogebic Area where “you are a stranger only once”!

Trail Conditions: Excellent

Snow Cover: 12-15”

Date of Report: February 26, 2020

Area Report:

Great news, all of our land trails are open. Trails are in excellent condition. No fresh lately and warmer temps over the weekend have made for some really hard trails. We have a very hard base with a couple icy corners. It might be a good idea to install a set of ice scratchers to kick up some snow to cool your sled down. Road routes are now getting pretty bare. We are grooming on a nightly basis.

Remember it is law to yield to the groomer.
This Saturday is the annual gun and meat raffle at Bonnies Lakeside. Starting at 2pm we will be starting with meat raffles.

Spirit, maple, townline, moccasin, round, crystal, island, and planting ground lakes are completely marked. Medicine and big stone lakes are partially marked. Stay within 10’ of the barrels to insure safe ice. If you don’t see barrels assume unsafe ice.

If you come across a tree that has fallen or something that you may see unsafe, please message us on Facebook. Please try and get the trail or the tin(trail identification number) that are located at all intersections.

Please be safe out there, it has been a horrific fall getting the trail system open this year with all the storms. We have thousands of hours getting trails ready for your safety and enjoyment.

If you like our trails, be sure to put a few dollars in our donation boxes in your favorite establishment, if you see something you don’t like, message us on Facebook and let us know, we will do what we can to fix it.

Date of Report: February 26, 2020

Area Report:

A plesent 16 degrees this morning. The Phelps trails were groomed last night and with the cool temps should have set up nicely.  Cooler than normal temperatures are predicted the next few days with a warm up coming this weekend.  This is a great time to ride. Please slow down coming into the corners. They are very icy. Trails are hard and seem to ride fast. Use your head and remember that you are not the only one on the trails. Have a safe and enjoyable ride.
