Trail Report – : Hayward / Sawyer County, Wisconsin – March 3, 2021

Reporter:haywardlakes

Trail Conditions: Good

Snow Cover: 6-9 inches of snow

Date of Report: March 3, 2021

Area Report:

**Alert** March 3, 2021- There is water on both sides of the stakes on the Chippewa Flowage getting on and off Chief Lake.

As you know the temps got quite warm this last week and weekend. While there was several areas of snirt there were also some great trails within the protection of the woods and on the lakes despite the warm up. If you ride Sawyer County much you know how a trail condition can change very rapidly from one spot to another. Out in the open and along highways you may see brown, into the forest and on the lakes you have snow again making conditions passable. There was a lot of traffic again this weekend and many were able to map out their routes to find the most optimal riding given the conditions and some snirt was inevitable. And then just like that in a matter of 8 hours the game changed! Much of the county received 5-7″ of fresh beautiful snow in the wee Sunday hours and wow, some of the most beautiful trails conditions we’ve seen all season! Many groomers have gone out to pan and set this snow as much as they can with hopes of hanging on to it as long as possible as our forecasted temps this week will be warm. At this time we cannot say for sure what riding opportunity there will be this weekend as the temps start to creep up. With that said we will continue to monitor the conditions as the week goes and update you to the best of our ability so you can make your weekend decisions.

Trail Conditions: Fair

Snow Cover: 1- 8

Date of Report: March 3, 2021

Took a ride yesterday and they were good in the morning, drove cruiser trails, boulder trails and sayner trails, when we returned back to Minocqua the trails had took a big hit with 40 degrees and sun, town trails are all but gone with gravel and snirt , there is still some good riding in the woods but hard to get to. I think a couple more days of this and it might be over .  No snow in the forecast for the next 10 days . Maybe we might get our mid March snow storm after that.
