Trail Report – : Lac du Flambeau, Wisconsin – December 30, 2021

Reporter:Toulish1

Trail Conditions: Fair

Snow Cover: 4-6″

Date of Report: December 30, 2021

Snowmobile Information:

Not a lot of change from Monday, thanks to cold temps and minimal sled traffic. I have not been on my sled yet, so I go from groomer report, and pickup truck. I will note that trail 1, Stearns Lake Road, is sketchy up to Plummer Lake Road, but has a better coverage north to East Boundary, and the sleds are carving the banks. 17, the grade, is thin, but holding, and 5 going in to the casino has more snow but holding up to traffic so far. North on 17 in the marsh is thin to bare out in the open where the wind gets at it. When we finished groomer repair, my daughter and I went on patrol by car up trail 1, and stopped to do some one on one rider interviews. A group that came up from Woodruff reported good but thin, and thanked our club for the work. Another group came from Mercer and reported thin in town there, but overall pretty decent ride down to The Bear Stube. Positive comments, no complaints, and people are glad to ride. Northern Hornshoe Team will be marking our lakes tomorrow, Friday, except Fence Lake. The big lake has some areas of concern yet. Early season conditions, so stay alert, ride safe, and thank your clubs and volunteers for their tireless efforts to bring happy trails to you. Mark

Trail Report – : Bayfield County, Wisconsin – December 30, 2021

Reporter:BayfieldCounty

Trail Conditions: Early Season

Snow Cover: 4-6 inches

Date of Report: December 30, 2021

Area Report:

Trails throughout the county are still in early season condition with spotty snow coverage in some areas.  The whole county received snow but the base is thin in spot. Hopefully the cold weather helps us maintain what we have. Be aware that there are still places with exposed rocks and gravel so ride carefully. Thank you to our groomers for working hard to get the trails open!

Just a reminder to all to please respect private landowners and stay on the trail. Stay on the trail or stay home!

Some trouble spots to note:

  • The Wally Polk Trail/Trail 40 near Port Wing and Herbster is closed. Flag road is a suitable re-route.

Namakagon Trail Groomers: Gene & the guys were out in the Huskies and got the majority of the trail system panned yesterday (Tues) with we’re going out this morning and finished the last remaining section which was Lake Namakagon to Grand View & back. We have not driven through any of the marsh/swamp areas – we’ll let the snowmobiles pack them down first. We have not seen or heard of any issues. After packing the trails, we don’t seem to have much snow but the cold weather should hopefully help them hold up as well as possible. Round about a 2-4″ base. It is definitely “EARLY SEASON RIDING”

Barnes Barnestormers: Barnes trails are looking beautiful; we have everything groomed. Groomed 31 south of Mulligan Creek Rd. today  (12/29/21).

Drummond SnoJacks: All trails out of Drummond are groomed and trail 4 to Sanborn are open and groomed. Trail 63 from Grand View to Mason is ok.  The water crossing in the Bibon Swamp is frozen.

Iron River: The tri-county corridor was groomed to Brule. Trails 22,24 and 31 Ruth Lake to Iron River are also groomed. Grooming Trail 4 to Mason and Friday Trail 31 north to Trail 63. The trails groomed today looked great. Seems to be 12-14 inches of snow in this area total.

Washburn Valhallers: The Washburn groomer was out yesterday (Tuesday) and groomed Trail 33, 31, and 63 (Moqua Spur).  The trails groomed up nicely and with the added 4-5 inches last night, they should be ready to ride for Thursday.  We are out today (Wednesday) grooming 31 and 35 today up through the Sunbowl and will groom 13 tomorrow into Washburn and to the Ashland corridor.  Trails appear to be in good riding shape.

South Shore– Port Wing, Herbster & Cornucopia: Trails along the South Shore are getting groomed today. Trails should be cleared of downed trees, but ride with caution.

Trail Report – : Eagle River, Wisconsin – December 30, 2021

Reporter:Holly t

Trail Conditions: Fair

Snow Cover: 12 inches snow – 4+ inch base

Date of Report: December 30, 2021

Area Report:

December 30, 2021 5:16am 5 degrees – High today of 22

Morning,

Some light SNOW this morning. Not enough to measure.  Base building & 12 inches of SNOW on the ground.  We’ll take it.

For the next couple of weeks temps will reach the mid 20’s during the day a few days.  For the most part highs will be in the teens or even single digits during the day.  Overnight temps be mostly single digits with many night below zero. SNOW off & on.  So…..Keep Doin’ The SNOW DANCE!

In Sno-Eagles Country, Eagle River trails are in EARLY RIDING CONDITION. Most trails have plenty of SNOW cover.  Riding we found a few open areas that were thin but SNOW covered.  So more new SNOW would be great.  All the swamps are frozen.  That includes, Trail 3 aka Manske Swamp, Trail 10 Wisconsin River bridge area, Trail 10E from Bloom Rd crossing toward town & heading west on Trails 13/7/70 the section just after crossing Oak Lane where it goes past The Toy Shop. A few crusty, choppy frozen spots. The re route on 13/7/70 is rough too.  Otherwise, it’s Time To Ride!

Overnight the groomers groomed nearly the entire Sno-Eagles system.  Here’s what was not groomed:

Grampa Grahm Trail 1N off of 10E (east of town trail to Eagle Waters)
Spur off 10E heading to Chanticleer & entrance to Eagle Lake (east of town-along Dollar Lake Rd)
3N aka Manske Swamp (north of town)
17N – from Trail 1S intersection heading east to Phelps connect
Wisconsin River aka Trail 10 – eastside of bridge (northwest of town)

Catfish & Eagle lake trails are NOT marked.  So please stay off for now.  Note the trail from Eagle boat launch to Eagle Waters Resort currently closed

There is a re route on 10/13/7/17 heading west.  Here’s a photo of the change.  It’s a rough ride now.  Should smooth out as we get more SNOW.  Please stay on the trail.

KEEP DOIN’ THE SNOW DANCE!

Perfect riding weather!  See ya all on the trails!
