Trail Conditions: Fair

Snow Cover: 8 to 12 inches

Date of Report: January 5, 2022

Area Report:

Groomers have been grooming since last week where they can… we are suppose to get another 3 inches of snow today which will help on the trails. There are a couple of trails they are waiting on to groom because of the wet land… but it’s getting there.  I would think that by the middle of January it should be all frozen and all trails groomed at that point.

Trail #2 – groomed – Fair to Good condition

Trail # 16 – groomed – Fair to Good – some logging going on there

Trail #116 – groomed – Fair to Good – condition

Trail #107 – groomed – Good – condition

Trail #113 – groomed – Fair to Good condition

Trail #18 – groomed – Fair to Good condition

These are all the trail condition reports I have at this time.  Temps will remain low for the next couple of weeks and more snow is in the forecast for next week.  We will update as conditions change.  Safe trail riding to everyone.

Trail Report – : Hayward / Sawyer County, Wisconsin – January 5, 2022

Trail Conditions: Fair

Snow Cover: 6-9 inches of snow

Date of Report: January 5, 2022

Area Report:

Now that the busy holiday week is over the groomers, who worked around the clock last week took a little reprieve on Sat and started back out on Sunday to clean up. While we have good snow and ice there are some rocky spots on the corners, and you’ll find a few trails that can be spotty with rocks. Our groomers did their best to pan and pull in snow from edges and corners and fill spots. From the center of the county (Chippewa Flowage) to the north conditions are reported to be fair flirting with good. Some trails will be really good, such as fire lanes while some near the roads or heavily traveled connecting trails will be fair.  To the south near Birchwood and Winter/Loretta they did receive less snow in that storm, so they have conditions to be reported as fair to poor.

Fear not there is some snow in the forecast! Between Tuesday-Wednesday they are calling for 2-5″. If we can get even 4″ that will really bump on the conditions to a very good status.

Groomer reports as of Tuesday afternoon:

Sno-Mads has completed 90% of the Seeley Hills several times already this week. Trails 15, 77, 5, intersection 22 to Rock Lake, 31 to the Bayfield County line have had a couple of passes this week already. They will complete another along with trail 63 by late Thursday. They report to be good on most trails with a few fair spots due to rocks.

Loretta Trail Blazers reports Flambeau Forest has been packed and cleared. They will continue to groom on Thursday. They have reported as fair to poor as it stands but with snow conditions will improve.

Musky Sno reported grooming on trail 3 from Moose Lake to Dunn Rovin, 21 from 319 to trail 18, 18 from the Flowage to 12. Also trail 9, 5 and 3 were done Sunday evening. 5 to 320, between Spider Lake and Lost Land Lake, and 18 from Tiger Cat to Callahan. They report to be in fair shape as well, pre any new snow.

Groomers are hopping out to toss rocks off, if you want to pitch in that is much appreciated!

Also, when riding on the lake please stay close to the staked trail, if you have to go off to get to your destination please ride with caution and watch for fish tip-ups. Share the lake please.

EAGLE RIVER TRAILS IN EARLY SEASON RIDING CONDITION
SNOWING

January 5, 2022 – 7:03am 20 degrees – Snow Showers

Snow on the ground at 6:40am was about 3 maybe 4 inches of wet packy snow 6 miles east of Eagle River.  The Winter Snow Watch ends at 6pm tonight.  Still forecasting 5-8 total by evening.  Stay tuned. Keep Dancin’

Trails are in Fair Early Riding condition & were snow covered before this latest snow.  This snow should move from Early Riding to Fair to Good riding.  See how it pans outs.

We rode our sleds into Eagle River last night & met one of the groomers preparing the trails for the new snow.  10E was Very Good.  The other groomer was also out. Here are the trails that were groomed in Eagle River by the Sno-Eagles last night

Trail 10/13 through Eagle River in both directions.

Trail 10E that connects with Three Lakes.  To include 9 mile trail that is an alternate trail to Three Lakes.  No Grampa Grahm grooming

Trail 70/17/7 heading west of Eagle River was entirely groomed. 70 connects to St. Germain.  17/7 split heading south.  17 connects with Sugar Camp. 7 splits & heads west toward Sugar Camp Kathan Inn area.  7 is aka Paintball Field

Trail 10/13 heading north of Eagle River groomed through town from the groomer barn all the way to the Conover connect which is on the train on “the grade”.

From there Trail 10W across Wisconsin River bridge.  Then north to the trails that lead to Bauer’s Dam & Conover trails.

REMINDER: Catfish & Eagle lake trails were marked & are NOW OPEN.  To be safe stay by the orange reflective barrels.  Note the spur from the northside Eagle Lake boat launch that leads to Eagle Waters is NOT OPEN at this time.   Work in progress. Stay tuned.

There is a re route on 10/13/7/17 heading west.  Here’s a photo of the work done on January 3rd.  Did stump grinding to help smooth out the area.  New Snow will help a lot.

Snowmobile Report – January 4, 2022
The Snowmobile Trails in Ashland County are Open. Trails are being packed but NOT being groomed. Conditions are POOR. Early trail conditions with some swamps still having open water AND watch out for rocks and debris, even though we did just receive snow it’s not enough snow to cover. Stay on the trail. Lots of Ashland County snowmobile trails are on farmers land, please be respectful so we don’t loose our easement to their property. Hopefully snow tonight!
