The further in the woods you go, the better it gets. Please make sure to stop by and patronize our business sponsors and tell them we sent you!

Trail Report – : Eagle River, Wisconsin – February 12, 2025

Trail Conditions: Fair

Snow Cover: Snow cover thin in open areas & in town. Much better out of town & in the woods.

Date of Report: February 12, 2025

Area Report:

February 12, 2025 – 8am – 12 below  – High 14 – Low tonight 6

Sno-Eagles
EAGLE RIVER TRAILS
OPEN
Good in the wooded areas
Fair or less in open areas

Cold one this morning heading up to a high of 14.  With SNOW moving in around 4pm.  1 inch+-  Would like more but will take it.   Hope it is wet packy SNOW.  Next SNOW Friday another 1 inch. Most of the SNOW this season has been fluffy dry SNOW.  Doesn’t pack & it makes for icy, icy trails.  Hard ice covered with loose SNOW.  Not a good combination.  Slow down.

NOTE: Trail 10E out of Eagle River becomes a one way from the ERRA SPORTS ARENA all the way to Mikes Gas Station.  It runs alone Hwy 70E.  The south side of the trail is ONE WAY going EAST only.  The north side of the trail is ONE WAY going WEST (back to Eagle River). Intersections are clearly marked with ONE WAY trail signs.  Very dangerous to go the wrong way.

GTS Groomer app is a good place to see what was groomed. Last night 1/2 of Sno-Eagles Trails were groomed.  Here’s the ones groomed:

  • Trail 10/13 heading north from the groomer barn all the way to the Conover Sno-Buddies trails.  Through town is thin. Gets better after crossing Hwy G.
  • Trail 10/13 aka Wisconsin River Bridge area all the way across to the intersection.  That section from the left turn all the way across is rough & icy.  Corner on the west end is slippery.  The rest of trail beyond that is also rough.
  • Trail 13N from the intersection heading up to the Bauers’/Buckatbon Lake area.  Snow covered & icy.
  • Trail 10W/7 to the connect with St. Germain BoBoen & Sayner Barnstormers trails.  Snow covered.
  • Trail 3N to the connect with 10/13.  This is a newly rerouted trail & not much snow cover or base.
  • Trail 17N to Columbus Road.  All conditions from barely Fair to Good.
  • Trail 1 which is off of 17N & heads south to Eagle Lake. Fair to Good

Catfish Lake & Eagle Lake Trails are marked with orange reflective barrels.  Stay by the barrels as there is no guarantee the rest of the lakes are safe. They have icy spots so please slow down.  Lots of lakes have ice heaves so be safe & stay by the barrels wherever you ride.

See ya on the trails!

Trail Report – : Iron County, Michigan – February 11, 2025

Reporter:Colleen

Trail Conditions: Fair

Snow Cover: 6 – 8 inches

Date of Report: February 11, 2025

Area Report:

We received 5 – 6 inches of snow this past Saturday…. it was a welcome sight.  Groomers have been out since Sunday grooming the trails as best they can. Temps are dipping back down again this week which will help to hold the trails groomed. We are hoping for a little more snow on Wednesday and possibly a small amount will roll in on Saturday as well. The Valentine Weekend is looking pretty nice with temps ending up in the upper 20’s.

News and Reports:

Valentine’s Weekend is approaching fast.  This coming weekend also marks the Michigan “Free” Fishing weekend… the ice is good and solid.. fishing has been pretty good this winter so far.  Iron County has so many great lakes to fish…. come on up and give it a try.  No permits needed for Saturday & Sunday Feb. 15th & 16th.

2025 Championship Ski Jumps being hosted in Iron Mountain the following weekend – February 21st – 23rd. Lots of vendors will be there.

Another fun event in the area – Keyes Peak Up Hill Truck Drags – Set for March 8th, 2025 – Florence, WI

Snowmobile Information:

More snow seems to be on the western & northern trail system so far this year.  As we all know, mother nature has not been overly kind with her snowfall amounts this year… or where she drops it.. but we still have plenty of time to get some real storms coming in yet.

Snowmobile permits can be purchased on-line in advance.. or picked up in most local gas stations.

Trail maps can be picked up at several local businesses, motels and gas stations in Iron River, Crystal Falls or Amasa.

Well be back to give you another update shortly.  🙂
