Snow Cover: 8-16″ Depending on area

Date of Report: December 6, 2025

Snowmobile Information:

REMINDER THAT TRAILS ARE CLOSED. Northern Hornshoe state trails have been inspected, and we intend to start grooming this week. We will be doing damage control on our club trails this coming week. Yesterday, Friday, and today, Saturday we had teams helping do damage control on Mercer Sno-Goers trails. Today we started at the Iron County line and cleared trees on corridor 17 up to Powell Rd. Check us out on Facebook. There are pictures that do a good job showing the snow depth, and the level of tree damage out there. Iron County and northern Vilas received a lot more snow than we did, and we spent six hours slugging it out tree by tree. Wow, I am sick of pine trees. I told my wife, just like Charlie Brown, we are getting an aluminum tree this year. I saw posts by Boulder Junction, Cruisers, White Thunder, Bo-Boen, and the Bunnies. These people are moving some wood. I am soaked up over my knees. A very heartfelt thank you to these groups of hard working volunteers! Will keep you posted. Mark

Trail Conditions: Closed

Snow Cover: Thin

Date of Report: December 6, 2025

Area Report:

We have been out through our entire trail system checking for down trees. Most have been cleared. We are watching the forecasts for more snow. Most of the snow we have gotten is from clippers so it is dry and fluffy. Temps have remained cold and swamps are starting to freeze up. Lakes are also starting to freeze over. Stay tuned for more info on when we can open the trails for the season. Keep doing your snow dances!

Trail Report – : Lac du Flambeau, Wisconsin – December 4, 2025

Reporter:Toulish1

Trail Conditions: Unknown

Snow Cover: Classified

Date of Report: December 4, 2025

Area Report:

It is Thursday, December 4, 0600 hours, and -7 right now. TRAILS ARE NOT OPEN. I guess people are calling the presidents, and trail bosses, of many clubs and asking them when trails will open. With internet, and social media, I struggle with calling these guys, but maybe it is like the weather, you call a local boots on the ground. We were out two days, with 12-20 volunteers, and we are ALMOST to where you could get a groomer to walk through casually. North of here, it is a jungle. They need help. I see where Holly T posted a flier on one of the Vilas groups asking for help. We have to put up our snow tarp on the Powell marsh bridge tomorrow, then whoever we can muster will move north to help our friends in Mercer. Saturday we will send anyone we can to help our Cruiser friends. When our one Hornshoe groomer went down, both of these clubs responded with help in hours. I joined both of these clubs for that reason. I also belong to White Thunder because five of them fixed my ski in their shop one day. Chainsaws, tractors, loaders – if you have it, offer it. If you can pull brush, offer to help.If you can’t work outside, offer inside help. I guess Cruisers is feeding people. Go help in their cool kitchen. My understanding is Mercer can set it up so you can use your sled. STAY OFF TRAILS unless you have been signed up on the list to operate. If you are not cleared in advance, you are subject to fines. I was told Great Northern in Mercer, and Boulder Motor Lodge in Boulder, have reduced room rates for volunteers. I have seen the Northwoods take care of its own during storms and power outages. Once again, we raise the colors and march into battle. ( But not before the sun comes up, it gets a little warmer, and I have some more coffee, maybe a warm muffin.) As you get older, “charge” , turns into “mosey”. Stay warm. Mark

Trail Report – : Lake Gogebic | Bergland, Michigan – December 3, 2025

Area Report:

“OH BOY” – TRAIL UPDATE – Lake Gogebic Area

Gogebic Area Groomers certainly have their work cut out for them! With 3 feet of snow in a very short span and soft ground underneath, progress is being made — but slowly and safely. This wet, heavy snow has created challenges and hazards throughout our section of the trail system.

At this time, conditions remain hazardous and riding is not recommended until groomers have been able to run machines through each trail segment. Water holes are beginning to form in swampy stretches from crews packing in snow.

Groomers are incredibly grateful for everyone’s willingness to help — but if a section hasn’t been panned, please stay off. Snow depths are inconsistent and very deep in places — even stepping out of a groomer means hip-deep snow in some spots!

When additional help is needed, Gogebic Area Grooming will post it.

AJ’s Lodge and The Timbers are offering complimentary lodging for volunteers able to assist when called upon. For updates and needs, please monitor the Gogebic Area Grooming Facebook page.   AJ’s Oven will open this Friday for food.

Lake Gogebic Area Trail Progress

  • Trail 8E to East Shore Road: All gates opened. Still very challenging — two machines heading out Friday to continue work.
  • Trail 13N to M-28: Fully cleared and all gates opened.
  • Corridor to Trail 1 North, and Trail 1 North up to swamp area before M-64 crossing: Opened up.
  • Trail 1 North — Bergland to White Pine: Passable.
  • Trail 1 — from Marenisco:
Northward: Impassable beyond west end of FR 8800.
     • Southward toward Presque Isle: About half completed, impassable beyond Job Corps Rd.
  • Trail 102: Groomers continuing to push through corridor — today’s focus.
  • Trail 2: East/West travel is open and panned — use caution, early season obstacles despite heavy snow.
  • Trail 100: Currently impassable — work to begin soon.
  • Marenisco Crew Update: Focused on clearing major obstructions to get a drag through and build a base. Once that’s complete, they’ll need help from fellow sledheads — bring a small saw to remove remaining minor hazards.

We’ll continue to share updates — thank you for your patience, respect, and support of the teams working tirelessly to get this season rolling safely! ❄️🛷🌲
