3-10-22 Driftsplitters (Catawba/Kennan Area) will have all our trails groomed today. The trails are flat and hard in good shape. Where there were logging operations trails are poor. With the warm weather coming next week we expect this will be the last run for our groomers. Thanks for the great trails this year.
Fifield Sno-Drovers 3/9/22- The trails in the Fifield/Pike Lake area are smooth and hard but getting quite icy. The heavily traveled trails may have a bare spot here and there but are in very good shape. There is little to no powder on the trails so if your machine has a problem with overheating beware. Pick routes with less traffic and no road routes as the roads are very icy and bare.
Northwoods Hi-Riders 3/8/22-Despite the warmer weather and some moisture on Mar 5, the trails around the Solberg Lake area are in Very Good condition, with the exception of the logging areas and highly traveled open areas near town. The base is still good and frozen, but that may change if we get thawing and a lot of sun. Grooming in our area has been temporarily suspended until we still what the weather will bring today and tomorrow, 3/8-9. Bottom line there is still some good riding out there, especially in the wooded areas. Stay Safe, and Stay On The Trail.

Area Report:
Our northern and western trails are groomed and in Very Good Condition… and this is coming from 2/riders who stayed with us last night. Southern trails are thin and icy.
Trail #2, Trail #107, Trail 15N., Trail #18, Trail #113, Trail #116 – are all groomed and in “Very Good” condition.
Trail #15 S., fair – icy in the corners and less snow cover.
Trail #16 – icy in the corners and less snow cover due to logging
Trail #111 – depending on where you are at on this trail will depend upon the condition of the trail… over all it’s good.. but there is a stretch of it that is road riding and that is very thin because of last weekend.
So over all if you want some good riding this weekend come on up… again our northern and western trails are in VERY Good condition and you won’t be disappointed.
Happy Trails to everyone.

March 10, 2022 – 7:20am – 6 below – High 19 – Low 7
The roller coaster that is weather continues. Yesterday in the low 30’s. Today High of 19. Plus a Wind Chill advisory for this morning that ended at 7am.
Trail conditions took a hit again yesterday. Evil sun & low 30’s not good combination. Typical March weather. Will be single digits & below zero every night until Sunday when it will be 18. Will also be SNOW on Saturday & Sunday evening. No totals. During the day starting tomorrow highs in the teens until Sunday. After that temps rising steadily into the 40’s. So this weekend we might hear the Fat Lady Singing.
As for the trails out on Trail 10E the one way sections that head west back toward Eagle River really softened up & have snirt in areas. The one way that heads east away from town is still in Good shape with an ice base. In town sloppy crossings even today with the high only 19. Evil sun takes a tole. Thin in the open areas. Heading north under cover heading toward Bauer’s is pretty good. Wide open sections are Fair to Poor. Did not head west but the trail section of Trail 70 that crosses the highway near the Eagle River Inn is on the northside & snirty. Adventure Sledding at this time of the year.
Groomer Tracking Systems (GTS) shows about 3/4ths of the trail groomed. Below are the trails NOT Groomed:
Trail 10E to include all the spurs (Chanticleer that leads to Eagle Lake
from the south, Granpa Grahm that takes you to Eagle Waters & 9 Mile
that is an alternate to Three Lakes.
Trail 70W from the intersection just be Honey Bear Inn to St. Germain
connect.
Trail 13S that runs along side Hwy 17S of town to the Sugar Camp
connect
Trail 7 aka Paintball Field which is a spur off of 17S & comes out at Cty
Hwy H connecting with the Sugar Camp trails
The Clubs of Vilas County work very hard to secure easements from private landowners & folks we are losing many due to off trail riding. So PLEASE NO OFF TRAIL RIDING.
Catfish & Eagle lake trails marked & OPEN. Stay by the orange reflective barrels. Surface slush. DO NOT think the entire lake is safe. Several sleds have gone in the water this season far from the barrels.
Get out & ride might be near the end.
See ya on the Trails !

Area Report:
It is 2:30am on Thursday and I just finished grooming the east side. Trails panned out nice. Only section I had trouble filling in with snow was Trail 3 east of US-45 where it winds around thru some corners. There isn’t much snow over there to pull into corners. Other than that, all the trails covered nicely. There will be ice under the snow, so slow down in corners. Suppose to stay cold this weekend, hopefully no sun. The March sun has been strong.
We will not be grooming Thursday and will most likely be out Friday and Saturday. Both sides of Conover were done Wednesday night.
Trail 3 still has the gravel section where it is coming up through the snow. The patch is roughly 250 ft long . Please ride safe ride right and for the conditions.

Please stay on trails. We are starting to have some off trail riding on private property and on the xc-ski trail. This has been the worst season we have had with off trail riding. More than one landowner has threatened to pull trail access. We ask you respect the land owners and the other clubs trails.
Also noticed several corners where sleds have lost control in an icy corner and have left the trail. Please ride right, stay right!

Area Report:
Not much snow since the weekend… trails are open and rideable. The trails are still covered but there are icy spots and especially in the corners.. so please ride with caution and stay on your side of the trail. Some trails have been groomed this weekend… but we were hoping for more snow this past week to help keep the sleds cooled down.
Northern trails have more snow cover and are being groomed.. southern trails have thinner snow with more ice on them. So again, please ride safely and at a slower speed if planning on riding this weekend.
We’ll update this report when we hear of trail condition changes…. think snow everyone. We only have 3/weeks left in the season and the temps are hold true for the most part… just need some fresh snow.
Happy Trails!! 😉

Snowmobile Information:
Barron County snowmobile trails are open and groomed. However, recent freezing rain and warming is taking a serious toll on the snow cover and most road routes are bare, so please ride with caution. Please call 715-637-4275 if you have any questions or looking for a map of the Barron County snowmobile trails.

Area Report:
Washburn County Snowmobile Trails are open at this time. Trail conditions are fair with a 3 to 5 inch snow base. Recent freezing rain has resulted in ice covered trail segments and downed branches on the trail. Please ride with caution. Grooming equipment will be working the trails leading up to the weekend. Some trail segments will not be groomed due to minimal snow cover and/or ice conditions. Looking at the forecast, it would appear that Washburn County Snowmobile Trails may close for the season on or about March 16th.

Trail Conditions: Fair
Snow Cover: Thin, flat and hard
Date of Report: March 9, 2022
Area Report:
Well folks, it is that time. ….I have a feeling the end is near. Currently, the trails are fair, with some thin corners and exposed roadways will be bare. Dirty snow at trail roadway intersections. Trails in the woods are fine to good.
There is a warm up in the forecast starting on Sunday with temps in the upper 30’s and 40’s for the entire week. We will discontinue grooming this weekend. The trail conditions will deteriorate quickly next week with sun and warm temps. If you want to get in the last of the season rides, do it in the next few days….
The trails are as flat as they have been all season – that is the “good” news. These are the following criteria that must be taken in accord when riding:
Road routes are thin in areas. There hasn’t been fresh snow in over a week. The sun can quickly melt roadways this time of the year
The trail bed / corners are icy – safety
Currently, the trails are rock solid, slide lubrication can be an issue.
The lakes are all marked with minor signs of slush. There are multiple roads across Boom Lake so use extreme caution when traveling on that route.
There is one trail closure on the Hodag Sno-Trails system: Trail H4 from Boom Lake to the intersection just north of River Rd. This is basically the “land” route to not running Boom Lake. The trail is closed at this point. We have been just notified that this is a permanent closure. Running the lake is the reroute.
Conditions will change quickly at this point. We will try to update as they change.
Time to ride!! The end of season bus is warming up….
