Things are starting to freeze. Trails are being signed and cleared. Come ride Chippewa County, a designated Snowmobile Friendly County by the Wisconsin Department of Tourism and Association of Wisconsin Snowmobile Clubs (AWSC).
Hello fellow sledders and welcome back to Snow Tracks. We have received close to 36″ of snow since November 10th. Trail 3 BN here in Toivola currently has 10″-12″ of snow on it. They are calling for warmer temps and very little snow between now and December 1st. With that being said, it is definitely early season riding conditions. Plus, there is a lot of standing water from all the rain we got a couple weeks ago. We need some cold weather for those areas to freeze up.
☠️ Stretch
Looking out from Sunrise Lodge on the west shore of Lac Vieux Desert it is lightly snowing and the lake is frozen over. Walked out 100 yards today and stayed dry. DECEMBER 2 is our big brushing day. Meet at the Groomer Bard at 8 AM and we get the trails and signs ready for the season.

Hello and welcome back to (almost) snowmobile season 22-23! In the last day we’ve had about 5″ thus far on the north shore of Lake Gogebic and the snow is still coming down this morning. Forecast call for more snow through Sunday and we have cold temperatures in the forecast! Only 13 more days till the trails could open and it’s looking pretty good. We will keep you posted as we get closer.
Groomers have been out brushing and clearing and Jim and Anthony were out yesterday on our trail brushing and clearing that as well. They’ve got a load of stone that they want to get up on that hill before we open – hopefully, we get an opportunity to get that done! Everyone is looking forward to a great snowmobile season! Will update closer to Thanksgiving! Enjoy this Thanksgiving week!

It is he time of year that clubs are in full swing getting ready for snow. It takes a lot of work to keep a club going, from administrative, to fund raising, to signing and brushing, to grooming. Last week I spent 8 hours in the Hornshoe tractor brushing, and yesterday, a group of eleven of us took a Sunday and reconstructed a bridge in Brown County for the Midnite Trail Riders. If you do not belong to a club, consider joining one.If you can’t help, at least be a part of a neat group that works hard to make our sport great, and understand what goes into that which many take for granted. Hornshoe Club is currently selling raffle tickets for the drawing December 3 at Harrisons ( The old Trailside on trail 17) in Lac Du Flambeau. Every dollar goes to buying signs and equipment for our trail.
The month of November is here. Boy we have warm temps. Clubs are out getting trails ready. Lots of clubs looking for volunteers to brush and sign trails. Trails open in Michigan on December 1st. We need cold weather to freeze up the ground. I have seen the weather change very fast.
Snowtracks is giving back to clubs that help put ads on there pages. We still need more club reporters and pages. See you on the trails.
