Your Online Trail and Travel Guide for Snowmobiling the U.S. & Canada

Trail Report: Watersmeet, Michigan – December 14, 2016

Trail Conditions: Poor
Snow Cover: 6 to 8 inch base
Date of Report: December 14, 2016
Area Report:

It’s great to be able to say that we are in winter mode after a very extended fall season.  We’ve had about 12″ of snow this week so far and plenty of cold.  Although we need more snow to groom, the U. P. Thunder Riders Snowmobile Club groomers were able to get out there today to pan, flatten, and evaluate the trail conditions.  As soon as I have an update, I’ll let you know.   All area lakes are now frozen, but the larger lakes like Thousand Island Lake and Black Oak just froze over on December 10 and 11.  Please do not venture out on any lake yet.  We are loving the polar freeze for what it’s doing to freeze up any wet spots on the trails and to make more ice, but we want everyone safe.  Snow is coming again Friday and Saturday, so we are getting closer to being able to provide you with some awesome sledding.

If you want a live snowmobile report, just call Caryl at the Watersmeet Chamber number at 906-358-9961 or email me at visit@watersmeet.org.  We always try to be as honest as possible about conditions.  We want you to come back and enjoy each and every time with the best trails.

If you’re looking for great accommodations in the area, we can offer lake-side cottages and vacation homes, motels, an historic hotel, and a large casino hotel.  There’s something for everyone in every price range.  We always invite you to stay where you play.  For more information or a trail map, just let us know.  Please visit our website at www.watersmeet.org, too.

Thanks for visiting.  We hope to see you real soon.  We’ll keep the snow and cold coming!
