Winter Snowmobile and All-Season Trails (As of 1/7/2020)

Douglas County is freezing again! Many of the trails are still open but do have some water on the trails and maybe rough in spots. These spots are still passible, just proceed with caution while riding our trails.  Clubs have been working hard to get the trail system open. Approximately 90% of Douglas County Trails are open.

PLEASE check the trail you intend to use is open and do not trespass on private property. It is critical that we respect the landowners who allow us to utilize their property.  It just takes one owner to deny the use of their land for a trail to be permanently shut down, so please be courteous and wait for the trails to officially open.

The following all-season trails are currently open to ATV, UTV, and Snowmobiles:

Cross Country Ski Trails (As of 1/7/2020)

Douglas County Ski Trails – All service roads and parking lots are plowed. All ski trails are groomed on 12/31 but are in fair to poor condition. The trails have a good base, we are just waiting on new snow to groom again.

Superior Municipal Forest – All trails were touched up on 1/6/2020. The “flat” side of the Yellow Trail has had 2 grooming passes out to the end. The “hilly” side of the Yellow Trail is groomed only up to the 2nd bypass as tree work continues on that side of the trail. Check for the open sign on the ski shack as we are trying to staff the building until dusk when possible

Pattison State Park –  The Overlook Trail and Oak Ridge Trail were groomed and tracked on 1/3/2020.  Conditions are excellent. The Riverview Trail is not groomed and tracked. It has been rolled and skied in.

Brule River After Hours Trail –  The Skate Lane is freshly groomed with excellent conditions.  The Spruce, Oak, and River Trails have classic tracks set on the opposite side due to the ski race held last Saturday.  These tracks will be removed by the end of the week and reset to normal by the weekend.

For further information, please contact the Douglas County Forestry Department at 715-378-2219 Monday-Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm excluding Holidays.
