Your Online Trail and Travel Guide for Snowmobiling the U.S. & Canada

Trail Report: Superior – Douglas County, Wisconsin – January 13, 2017

Trail Conditions: Good
Snow Cover: 6-12 inches in most places. Good to excellent condition in most places.
Date of Report: January 13, 2017
Area Report:

As is typical for this time of year, certain trail segments can be opened and others are not ready yet due to wetland crossings and/or have restrictions due to private land easements. It is critical that we respect the landowners who allow us to use their property. Please review the information below carefully before trail riding and confirm that you are using open trails. Please note that on certain trails only segments of that trail may be open at this time. We anticipate frequent updates as the clubs report in with trails they have checked. In all areas where the winter recreational trails are closed the clubs are actively working on the getting the trails open.

Douglas County received a good amount of snow over January 8-10.  We will be updating as clubs start to open trails.

New Snow:  Seven inches of new snow in Poplar since Sunday.  With the exception of 235, all Brule River Rider Trails were groomed on Wednesday or Thursday.  The northern half of Trail 235 has been groomed a few passes the BRR club’s small groomer.  75% of our trails have been groomed at least twice, and trails are shaping up nicely.  Conditions vary from good to excellent.

Club update:  Trail nine has a culvert out and water issues, so it remains closed.  The club is working on getting the gates open on 925, and the river is safe for ATV’s and snowmobiles, but not the groomer.  As trails open, updates will be sent out.
