Winter Snowmobile and All-Season Trails (As of 12/27/2019)

This week the region experienced an unseasonal warm-up.  The snow has compressed due to the warmer weather.  Clubs are still reporting good riding conditions through most of Douglas County. The weather, however, has created some wet spots. These spots are still passable, so please be aware as you are traveling through these areas. Clubs have been working diligently to get the trails open and approximately 80% of Douglas County trails are currently open. Clubs are still working on clearing trees, packing trail bases, and grooming.

PLEASE check the trail you intend to use is open and do not trespass on private property. It is critical that we respect the landowners who allow us to utilize their property.  It just takes one owner to deny the use of their land for a trail to be permanently shut down, so please be courteous and wait for the trails to officially open.

The following all-season trails are currently open to ATV, UTV, and Snowmobiles:

Cross Country Ski Trails (As of 12/27/2019)

Douglas County Ski Trails – All service roads and parking lots are plowed. All ski trails were packed on 12/25/19.  With the current weather conditions, tracks could not be laced on the ski trails.  Once more snow falls, tracks will be set and DCFD will update trail conditions.

Superior Municipal Forest – Trails are soft due to the warm temperatures and overnight rain, but they are holding up. No grooming will take place until new snowfalls to avoid damage. Significant progress was made in clearing the yellow trail and continued trail clearing will continue on Friday. All trails remain open except for yellow at this time.

Pattison State Park –  The Overlook trail was groomed and tracked on 12/20. Oak Ridge and River View were rolled but not groomed and tracked. Excellent conditions. No new update as of 12/27.

Brule River After Hours Trail –  12/22 – The entire trail system has been groomed and tracked except on the Sally’s “Classic-only” trail. The trail is still soft in areas that crews are still working on the snow base. Overall the trails are fairly smooth and will improve as temperatures drop. No new update as of 12/27.
