Your Online Trail and Travel Guide for Snowmobiling the U.S. & Canada

Trail Report: Sayner, Wisconsin – January 9, 2017

Trail Conditions: Good
Snow Cover: 3 inches average on the trail.
Date of Report: January 9, 2017
Area Report:

The area received about 1 1/2 to 2 inches of fluffy snow overnight. Every little bit helps on trails that already average good overall. Our trails where there is NO logging going on are Very Good to Excellent. The sections where there IS logging going on are only fair at best.

Other than the little bit of new snow – no real updates to report. We groomed last night – as always – doing the best we can with what there is to work with. We DO need some better snow to work with to improve a couple areas that need some help. One of those sections is Trail 9 between Sayner & Ross Lake Rd. The trail bed on that section has a few deep holes that need at least a 9 inch WET snowfall to fill them with where traffic won’t beat the snow right back out of the hole.

Logging is going to continue all season on a few areas of our system. Unfortunately, the trucks are going to start hauling more of the logs out. This means they will be sanding hills to help the truck’s.  We still groom these sections of trail to attempt to keep them at least as smooth as possible. Unfortunately, the trucks beat the snow down so hard – it leaves little snow for our grooming drags to work with. Again – we’re doing the best we can. Please do everything you can to stay out of the way of the logging trucks and equipment. Do not hinder them and especially – DO NOT hassle them. Always keep in mind they DO have the option to shut that section of trail down.

There is at least several inches in the forecast for today, tomorrow, and Wednesday. We’ll take every bit of white gold we can get right now!!!

Lets be careful out there!!!
