Trail Report – : Sayner, Wisconsin – January 1, 2020

Reporter:SaynerStar Lake Barnstormers
Trail Conditions: Good
Snow Cover: 8 to 10 +/- inches on the trail / some areas less
Date of Report: January 1, 2020
Area Report:

The 8 +/- inches of HEAVY/WET snow we received Monday & Tuesday were quite a savior for our trails. However the rain we received last Saturday & Sunday caused havoc with everything, especially including our lakes. The rain left occasional water holes on our trails and set Plum & Star back. Even before the rains came, they (Plum & Star) were not going to be marked for 10 to 14 days.

We did groom last Friday, even as soft as the snow was. We did the best we could -but- with the snow that soft, it was not going to last long with the heavy traffic we had. We did not groom last Saturday or Sunday in an effort to preserve the rapidly disappearing base (thanks to the rain). We did groom as much as we could on Monday but could not get through the entire system due to a shortage of drivers. We groomed last night (Tuesday) and got through the rest of our system.

SO, right now our trails, overall, are in good shape. However, there could be an occasional water hole – so PLEASE be ready. They (water holes) won’t be of the depth that have occurred on a couple other systems, but you still need to be careful with them.

Stay OFF our lakes (Plum & Star). They are NOT SAFE!!!
