Area Report:

Thanks to everyone who attended our pizza fundraiser at Hillside Tavern & Grill last weekend.  Whenever you visit them, please tell Achille that you appreciate her support of the Sayner Star Lake Barnstormers.

We finally got out of the deep freeze with temperatures, which is making for more enjoyable riding weather.

Even after the very busy Presidents weekend, our trail system has held up extremely well.  The lack of new snow is evident, but we’re still in pretty good shape.  I would rate the Barnstormer system as follows:  70% very good, 20% good, and 10% fair.  Without new snow, the amount of snirt increases daily.  We can still make the snirt flat, but with no moisture left, it has the consistency of sugar and just won’t stay in place.

With the exception of possibly an inch over the next day or so, there is no significant snowfall in the forecast.  By mid next week, the temps are potentially going to hit 40.  Hopefully, that won’t last long, and hopefully, it will bring in some new WET snow.  We’ll have to just wait and see.  Riding should be really good this weekend prior to the warmup!

  • Logging operations are continuing throughout the northwoods and in many areas where snowmobile trails are located.  Loggers have first priority!  PLEASE be respectful of them and make every attempt to stay out of their way.  DO NOT engage with them.  Loggers have a legal right to close any snowmobile trail where they are working.  They are being cooperative with the clubs and working with us the best they can.  PLEASE do not give them reason to close the trails.
  • Hintz’s North Star Lodge is currently closed.  Therefore, we have closed the trail leading to their establishment.  If and when they are open for business, we will reopen that trail.  Please respect them by not riding across their property.

Thank you for your patience and support.  Ride Right and Stay Safe!
