Gogebic Area Grooming

The Lake Gogebic Area has received 12+” of snow and it’s still snowing!  Forecast calls for a high of 14 F and a low of 1F.   What a difference a couple of days makes – it’s like snowmaggedon around here.   Gogebic Area Groomers reported that anything that was lost with our last warmup has been regained.

Last  night they sent 2 machines down 8w to Wakefield – one with a drag and one without.  All snow bridges remained intact and groomable and rideable.

The Marenisco crew reported that the warm weather this past week took a pretty good toll on the trails and left a slushy wet irregular mess. Crews have been out tonight trying to clean it all up and flatten it out.   On the positive note, we’ve received quite a bit more snow than originally predicted and most of Trail 1 is still in pretty good shape. There are some wet spots that popped through but not too many. It’s thin heading south out of Marenisco but they were able to smooth the grade and bridges out pretty well.

Heading north out of Marenisco, Trail 1 is thin along M64 but once past that, it’s still in great shape all the way to M 28.    While we received about 6”-8” of snow which will help greatly but it will take a couple of groomer passes to get it back in ideal condition. The season isn’t over yet folks but use “early season” caution right now!

Be safe, ride right and we’ll see you soon!
