Trail Report – : Iron County, Michigan – January 21, 2026

Reporter:Colleen
Trail Conditions: Excellent
Snow Cover: 15-24 inches
Date of Report: January 21, 2026
Area Report:

Out trail system is open and in very good condition. Forecast is for a few new inches of snow throughout the week. Temps have been very cold the past couple of days but will be warming up slowly as we get to the weekend. Groomer operators are out on the trails on both sides of the county. The Chippewa Sno-Kats on the East side and Iron Range Trail Club on the west side.  Both clubs are out on the trails daily, so please ride right and watch the corners for oncoming traffic.

The following trails are in very Good to Excellent condition – Trail #2, #107, #15 N, #111, #18, #113, #16, #116, #113. Trails #15 S is in Good to Very Good condition. Again, trails are being groomed daily. If you happen to come across and downed trees, please note the trail # and contact the clubs as soon as possible so they can send someone out to remove it off the trail. Traffic is still on the low side but we are seeing a few more riders coming through as each day passes. It is such a welcome site to see all the snow this year and near perfect conditions on the trails.  Lots of work has and will continue to go into maintaining these trails by our local snowmobile clubs and volunteers. Be sure to give them a waive or thumbs up if you see them along the trail.  As “Always” ride RIGHT and watch your corners.

Happy trails!!
