Trails are in on average Poor to Fair Very Early Riding Condition
PLEASE STAY ON MARKED TRAILS
Off trail riding has become a problem throughout Vilas county. What this is doing jeopardizing trail easements & will cause trail section closures. Please once again stay on marked trails.
Some SNOW yesterday afternoon. Looked like Lake Effect Snow(LES). No more than an inch. Weather guys forecast chance of flurries all week. Next SNOW is Sunday. Are you Dancin’? Temps have dropped Thursday & forward temps at night will be low teens to single digits & even below zero. Daytime teens to low 20’s.
Trail 3N aka Manske Swamp has been closed. Due to high water & off trail riding. This trail is a cut across between 13N & 17N. It many reopen when it freezes back up.
No report on Trail 10W aka Wisconsin River Trail. Will do some checking again today & update if necessary.
No grooming overnight. The groomer did go out late Sunday afternoon to close Manske Swamp trail.
Trails have snow from the last Thursday & Friday snow. The snow fall was only 2-3 inches. Trails are Very Early Riding Condition with conditions at Fair to Poor. The new SNOW covers hard frozen ground covered with an ice base in most areas. Crusty frozen snow under the new SNOW. As of last night most everything was covered. Areas of snirt & crusty snow as well. Few riders are out riding. Especially trail 10E of town.
Catfish & Eagle have been marked by businesses on the lake. This includes the spur to Eagle Waters. Stay by the markers to be safe. Temps have dropped so that will freeze up any remaining surface slush
PLEASE REMEMBER WHILE VILAS COUNTY TRAILS ARE OPEN, ONEIDA & FOREST ARE NOT. PLEASE DO NOT RIDE IN THOSE AREAS. This includes Three Lakes, Sugar Camp & Newbold which are all in Oneida county.
KEEP THINKING COLD & DOIN’ THE SNOW DANCE!
