EAGLE RIVER TRAILS
Good to Very Good
Trail conditions are in Good to Very Good but are very icy. The highs in the mid-20’s have soften up the SNOW. The base is still hard ice & frozen SNOW. The trails aren’t as slippery as they have been. But please remember to RIDE RIGHT & SLOW DOWN as there is a lot of traffic on the trails. Rode yesterday see my report below on conditions.
Deep freeze temps have ended. 20’s during the day until Monday when temps will pop up in the 30’s ’til Friday morning. Teens to low 20’s at night. SNOW Monday night into Tuesday morning. Next forecast of SNOW is next Thursday. No firm totals yet.
Yesterday we rode 10E from our house east to the connect with Three Lakes trails. The 2 way section that begins at the Cenex Station had very heavy traffic & was moguled by late afternoon. 9Mile was choppy but much better. Took one way heading west which was in better shape with lots of loose snow all the way into town to include where 10/13 meet & head into town. In town snow was really soft which makes it look tan. No snirt. Headed north on 10/13 to the intersection with 17N. From intersection, crossing road into field next to Best Western was thin & icy. Improved along the section that runs parallel with Hwy 45N. All frozen & heavy snow cover all the way out to 17/3Mankse intersection with exception of the short business section by Chain o’ Lks Rd. 17N had plenty of snow except in corner which were blown out & icy. The beginning section of Trail 1 that heads to Eagle Lake is a road. It was snow covered with a few icy spots. Back on the trail section it was nearly all snow covered with icy corners. Crossed Eagle Lk which is hard with plenty of moguls. Back on 10 one way heading east. This one way section was in pretty good shape. All trails had heavy traffic.
Nearly full grooming over night. Here the few sections not groomed:
- On Trail 10E Chanticleer trail to Eagle Lake, Grampa Grahm along W. Carpenter Lk Rd, 9mile & short trail to the Shell Gas Station.
- North of Eagle River the section of 10W aka Uncle Kent’s trail coming out on Hwy G.
- West trails 13S & 7 heading to Sugar Camp.
Eagle & Catfish Lake trails are marked. Please stay by the orange reflective barrels. Surface is very hard with moguls. Remember not all lakes are safe.
Last, off trail riding is a big problem. PLEASE STAY ON THE TRAIL & Take the Snowmobilers Pledge.
Keep DOIN’ THE SNOW DANCE!! Slow down & Ride Safe!
See ya on the trails!
