EAGLE RIVERS  TRAILS
Deep SNOW Dangerous Riding

February 24 2019 8:30am  – 27 Snow Showers – High 27

The weather guys were right this time. 3-5 inches of SNOW early Saturday.  Followed by mist.  Overnight 12 inches of new SNOW plus.  Snow Showers to continue all day today into tonight.

As much as you might want to get out & ride conditions for today will be very dangerous.  High winds warning that look to be moving in late afternoon. With the amount of new SNOW on the trails & trees adding winds will create really dangerous conditions on the trails.  Trees.  Branches. Drifting.

The groomer drivers have a tough job ahead.  This amount of SNOW on the trails turns grooming into trail rehab.  Staying off the trails for now will give them the ability to get them back into terrific riding.

Here are some important updates:

Trail 10W/13N aka Wisconsin River Bridge Trail is Closed Effective Immediately

There are 2 logging operations going on where there is a need to use parts of the trails. Trail 13N by Deep Lake Rd & on 7 near Sugar Camp on the high line.

The snowbanks at driveway crossing & road crossings will be even higher after crews get out to do road clean up.  After clean up expect some blocked road & driveway crossings.

As trails get cleaned up trail signs will be buried in deep SNOW.  It will take clubs throughout Vilas County time to unbury or add post extensions to the existing signs.

EAGLE LAKE TRAIL & CATFISH LAKE TRAIL ARE MARKED & OPEN. With that said the SNOW will be way deep & will have drifts.  So expect dangerous conditions.  Might be best to stay off.

The 2 one-way trail areas are 10E from the ERRA Sports Arena all the way out to Nicolet Mini Mart.  The other is the 13’s up near Buckatabon Bridge & Bauer’s Dam area.  Please be aware that for now signs will be buried in many locations.  PLEASE BE SURE TO CHECK A MAP SO YOU KNOW THE LOCATION OF THESE TRAILS.

Let’s give the grooming crew the time to clean up.
