Trail Conditions: Excellent
Snow Cover: 8-12”
Date of Report: January 18, 2026
Area Report:
We have groomed all of our trails Friday and Saturday nights. There was a ton of sled traffic with the Derby going on and the Holiday on Monday. Took some work to get the trails flat again and pull the corners down.
Seems that during busy times like this weekend, riders don’t know what to do when they come upon a groomer on the trail. I had several sleds ride right up to the front blade and looked at me like deer in headlights. When you see the groomer, look for a safe spot to get off the trail. If the groomer has room, we will move over as far as we can, dim/flash the headlights to indicate it is safe to pass the groomer and drag. Pass slow and safely.
The temps next week are supposed to be very cold. If you are out riding, dress warm and make sure your sled is in good running condition. You don’t want to have a breakdown in these cold temps.
Watch out for the large ice heave on North Twin Lake. It is marked with signs, barrels, and green flashing beacons. Please slow down and cross next to the barrels.
