This warm weather is compacting our shady trails and melting the trails that are exposed to the sun. There are spots down to mud in the sun and the snow pack is getting thinner in the woods. Chance of snow Wednesday and Friday this week with temperatures dropping much colder by Saturday. Do a snow dance – we need more!
Due to the warmer temperatures this week, grooming operations have stopped for the remainder of this season. Technically the Sawyer County trails never close, however they do eventually become unrideable. We will report any additional updates as they become available. Thank you!
At 8:00 am it is 38 degrees out with sunny skies and a high of 45 degrees today followed by
above freezing temps until Thursday.
We got our John Deere back from repairs and we are now in full force again. Our entire trail
system was groomed Saturday through Sunday morning and 15N/6E was groomed last night.
Due to the warm up, we are suspending grooming until the weather improves.
Our trails are in fair condition with a 1”-5” base but will be deteriorating fast with above
freezing temps throughout midweek.
If you are in our area, we are hosting our annual Cabin Fever Party fundraiser at Gooch’s 2 on
Saturday, March 1 st from 4:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Plenty of food and raffles will be available.

There was a very high level of snowmobile traffic across our system all weekend. Groomer crews were out every night to keep up. Sunday’s unexpected sun and warm temps took a major toll. Last night, crews cut down moguls and smoothed excess snow into bare areas as best as possible while assessing the system. In-town trails and open areas with direct exposure are scorched to bare frozen ground. Conditions are very poor in many areas. Today is the worst of the weather days and will have the biggest negative impact. We are pausing groomer operations this week until conditions allow.
The weekly Club rides are cancelled until further notice due to the conditions. Please check our website for the latest information – https://snoeagles.org/events/
We will keep you updated on conditions later in the week. Let’s hope for the rapid return of cold and snowfall! – Dan Dumas, Trail Boss Sno-Eagles Snowmobile Club.
There it is for you. PLEASE STAY OFF TRAILS FOR NOW.
The entire Langlade County Snowmobile Trail System including state-funded trails closed at 8:00 am on Monday, February 24, 2025, to preserve the existing base during this period of warm weather and possible rain. The closure is expected to be temporary but is weather-dependent. The purpose of this temporary closure is to preserve the existing base during a period of warm weather and possible rain. The Langlade County snowmobile trail system will reopen when/if weather and trail conditions improve.
The entire Langlade County Snowmobile Trail System including state-funded trails closed at 8:00 am on Monday, February 24, 2025, to preserve the existing base during this period of warm weather and possible rain. Expect rough early-season riding conditions.
We are currently experiencing above freezing weather and it will last for the next few days. Main trails and road routes are taking a beating and will most likely be bare. However there is still plenty to ride, be creative, get out in the woods and out by the Turtle Flambeau Flowage. Look at a map and plan your route before you go out. Grooming operations have halted until colder weather moves back in. There is snow in the forecast going into the weekend so hopefully that replaces what we lose. Thank you for your support this season, it’s not perfect but we are making the best out of what we are dealt and we aren’t done yet!
