Snowmobile Report – February 16, 2026
After a bit of a warm up Ashland County Trails remain in overall Good condition.  The southern part of the county is in good condition and trails in the northern part of the county are in fair to good condition, all of the county with a few bare spots on the corner and roads.  Open water in some spots.  Ride with caution.  With snow in the forcast and cooler temps we hope to get groomers out soon.

One Reroute:   starting 1/18 due to logging operations: Trail 11 to Iron County will be detoured. You need to follow Nig Rein Rd to Camp E Rd to reconnect at Bear Track Rd!

Reminder everyone that the Ashland Waterfront Trail is not open to motorized vehicles, including snowmobiles and ATVs. Anyone caught riding on the Ashland Waterfront Trail will be ticketed.

When snowmobiling please stay on the trail.  A lot of Ashland County snowmobile trails are on farmers land, be respectful so we don’t lose our easement to their property.

Trail Report – : Boulder Junction, Wisconsin – February 16, 2026

Area Report:

At 8:00 a.m., it’s 33 degrees out with sunny skies and temps rising to 46 degrees today followed
by another day in the 40’s tomorrow.
Despite the sun and high temps, we did get out in the evenings and last groomed 8E early
Saturday a.m., 2W, 8W, 51, 15N, & 6E Saturday evening, and 15S & 11 early Sunday morning.
Our trails are now in late season riding conditions and are in fair to poor shape except Day Lake
Road (8 & 51) and 11 which are in good shape. We have lost a lot of base and you will
encounter puddles in the open areas, bare inside corners, and mostly an ice base due to the
daily melting and freezing pattern that will last a few more days.
Hopefully, later this week we will cool down and get some much-needed snow!
Thanks to all that supported us at this past weeks fundraisers held at the Rustic Roadhouse on
Thursday and at the Guides Inn on Sunday. They were both well attended.
Please ride safe, ride right, and enjoy the trails and area businesses while in our neck of the
woods!

Yes still in the warm up for a few more days.  Weather forecast temps dropping Wednesday with SNOW in the forecast Tuesday night into Friday morning.  No hard totals at this point.  SNOW DANCE!!!

Sno-Eagles groomers is experiencing an issue with GTS grooming reporting.  So be aware that if you are using the APP to know what was groomed it may/will not be accurate.

Eagle Lake was marked by businesses. There are 3 color safety lights at entrance & exit from/to the lake trail.  There are mogul drifts along the barrels so recommend slowing down. Lots of SNOW mist so leave space between you & rider in front. With sun expect surface slush STAY BY THE BARRELS TO BE SAFE
 

Catfish Lake is NOT MARKED. Uncertain it will open as there are no businesses open on the lake this winter.  If you have not ridden the lake in the past DO NOT ATTEMPT at night. There are spots that can be thin or even open water. NO safety lights

Snow Cover: solid base in the woods, depleted in open areas

Area Report:

We will start with the good….The snow base in the wooded trails has held up as expected.  There is some snirt showing through and the corners can be icy.

The exposed trails, highlines, rail beds, south edges of trails along roadways are thin and show dirt areas.  The road routes are down to the pavement.

If you plan your rides out, there is good riding to be had.  There will be sections that the trails are in poor condition (open areas).

Overall, they are in fair condition.  

Let’s hope for some snow later this week.  The trails need a refresher.

  • Trail 10E from the “grade section” heading east to Bloom Rd

Snowmobile Information:

Will report fair today just due to the strong sun and 42 degrees old Frosty is on Slim-Fast.  High of 52 by Monday.

Friday the 13th brings unseasonably warm weather. Looks like it may last about five days with hopes of cooler temps and snow to follow. Trails are holding but can’t say if they will make it though the whole warm spell. Road routes are deteriorating fast. Trails in the sun will suffer the most. Not much we can do but pray for more snow. Will groom as much as temperatures will allow. Slow down in the corners. Snow is soft so you will slide into another sled very easily. Respect the land you ride on and keep between the blazers. Get out and enjoy what we have while you can. Have fun and enjoy your weekend. Remember to keep it at 55 at night max.

Snowmobile Report – February 14, 2026
Ashland County Trails remain in overall Excellent conditions.  The southern part of the county in excellent condition and trails in the northern part of the county are in goos condition.  Open water just south of County Road A on Trail 13.  Ride with caution as the warm weather may open up more water hazards.

Another day of the warm up.  Amazing how well in woods trails are hold.  Even more amazing is there is SNOW all be it mushy covering the grade in town.  Under 32 at night is great as it is freezing up.  Next SNOW Wednesday night.

Only rode a short ride east on 10E yesterday.  Trails in the woods & on the south side of the road are in pretty good shape.  Road crossing & road running has some ice but also a lot of bare.  Northside trails as you get out in the Anvil lake & farther north open to road are breaking down.  Again in the wood is pretty good.  There are birmmed corners, ice & some breakdown.  This was a ride only beyond the Three Lakes/Brule trails connect.  Then headed back home.

Here is what I believe was groomed
From Groomer Barn heading north:
Trail 10W/13N to Adams Rd
Trail 17N to Trail 1 connect
Trail 3 from intersect with 10W/13N to 17N
Groomers took Trail 3 to reconnect with 10W/13N grooming all directions to Buckatabon/Bauers area & toward Sayner & St. Germain.

Trail Report – : Spooner and Washburn County, Wisconsin – February 13, 2026

Snow Cover: 6 – 8″ Base

Area Report:

At this time ALL Trails in Washburn County are open. The trails have recently been groomed, have a sustainable trail base and are in fair condition. All reports coming in from the groomers indicate that the trails are holding up fairly well.  There are a few spots starting to lack snow cover as they are in wide open areas and get direct sunlight for the better part of the day.   Remember that grooming and maintenance activities continue throughout the season. Use caution while riding, watch for trail equipment, and enjoy the trails responsibly.  If you encounter any trail issues such as downed trees, limbs, or debris, please report them to Washburn County Forestry at 715-635-4490.

Please be advised that ice conditions continue to vary and traveling on any lake is never 100% safe. Washburn County Forestry does not maintain anything past the high ground point. Please use caution if you are out on any lake.

It’s the start of the weekend & a warm up.  Will be 40’s next few days. 20’s at night.  Then dropping on Tuesday below freezing during the day & teens at night.  Best new is SNOW Tuesday through Thursday.  No hard totals.  Stay tuned.

As for the trails.  Rode late afternoon yesterday to see how trails held up.  Trail 10E one way heading to town on the northside of the road was GOOD.  Surprised as the northside of the one way trails go south first.  Roads are breaking down. Grade (10/13) to town SNOW covered & EXCELLENT.  At the Dairy Queen crossing it was slushy.  Through town real soft but SNOW covered. True all the way to 10/13 Hwy G crossing.  Undercover on 10/13 all SNOW covered & VERY GOOD to EXCELLENT.  Honest!! Rode to Trail 3 intersect.  Head south on 3.  It was soft & browning from the highway chemicals floating on. No bare sports.  Rode to Trails 3 & 17 intersection.  Took 17N almost to Phelps.  It was all SNOW covered except Columbus Rd & Shangri La Rd.  From Shangri La Rd where Phelps trails start it was VERY GOOD TO EXCELLENT.  All road sections covered with SNOW & some ice.  Headed back toward Eagle River to Trail 1 aka Deerview Rd which has a great birm on the north side with plenty of SNOW.  Town Hall Rd portion of Trail 1 is icy.  The trail birm on the west side was GOOD.  One section had some large SNOW chunks from road clearing.  Watch for that. Eagle Lake is moguled but safe all the way.  E. Dollar Lk Rd section of 1 was 1/2 bare.  Trail 1 on east side of road was SNOW filled & pretty smooth. Trail 10 heading east was well ridden & choppy all the way home.  Lots of traffic.  The bridge crossing by Boat Sport is at Adventure sledding level.  Cement & mud especially on the east side.
