Trail Report – : Conover, Wisconsin – March 6, 2023

Reporter:snobuddies

Trail Conditions: Fair

Snow Cover: 12-18″

Date of Report: March 6, 2023

Area Report:

Welcome to March! With the heavy traffic and March sun out, the trails took a hit this weekend. We skipped grooming on Sunday. Now it is snowing, we have received 3-4″ so far. More snow in the forecast for Thursday-Friday. This will help freshen up the trails this week. I’ll report back with more info once we groom tonight.

Just remember, when that sun comes out at this time of year, it changes trail conditions quickly. A nice hard snow covered trail in the morning may turn soft in the afternoon. Corners may push up revealing ice or dirt base below. So ride right always, and slow down for these conditions.

News and Reports:

  • A reminder to ride between the orange blazers. Be careful in corners as there is an ice layer under the snow. Ride Right ➡️ Ride Safe.
  • To see where the Groomer is at, check out  Groomer Tracker  Half the cost of the app comes back to Conover Sno-Buddies to support grooming operations.

Snowmobile Information:

Boulder Junction Snowmobile Club Trail Report – Monday, 3/6/2023

At 8:00 a.m. it’s 31 degrees out with light snow falling and a high of 35 degrees for today. We  received about 5” of new snow overnight.

We attempted to groom 2W, 8W, and 15S early this morning, but the snow was too wet and temps too high to continue grooming. We will be out tonight after the temps drop below freezing.

We groomed over the weekend and I rode 15S, 11, 51, 8W, and 15N yesterday morning and they were in good to very good condition despite being in the 30’s and the sun being out.

We are now in typical late season riding conditions with above freezing during the day and a cool down at night. With the new snow and cooler nights, we will continue to groom as long as possible. Best riding will be in the mornings as the trails will be hard and mostly flat.

Thanks to all who supported our club at our annual Cabin Fever fund raiser at Gooch 2 on Saturday. We had a great turnout with good food and many door prizes.

Enjoy our trails and local businesses this week and as always “Ride Right” and be safe.

Trail Conditions: Good

Snow Cover: 1-6

Date of Report: March 6, 2023

Area Report:

Langlade County’s Zone A snowmobile trails are in good condition overall with some icy corners and thin spots.  The base is about 2-6 inches.  ZONE A TRAILS REMAIN OPEN WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THOSE SECTIONS OF TRAIL BETWEEN INTERSECTIONS 42 & 42A AND INTERSECTIONS 21B & 22B WHICH WILL REMAIN CLOSED.

Langlade County’s Zone B snowmobile trails are in fair to good conditions with thin stretches and icy spots mainly in low-lying areas. The base is about 1-4 inches.

Most of the trail system has been groomed.  A few most in swamps have not been groomed as the groomers are too heavy for the ground that is not frozen solid.  With warm weather forecasted over the weekend conditions will likely deteriorate some.

EAGLE RIVER TRAILS
Trails Good

New wet & packy SNOW overnight.  Still SNOWING this morning.  At 5:16am there was about 3 inches new SNOW east of Eagle River.  SNOW will continue throughout the day.   Thinking maybe 5 inches will be the total.

Trail yesterday were still great in the woods.  10E heading to Eagle River which is a one way on the north side of the woods had many burn throughs’.  Still enough icy snow along Taylor Lake Rd & Pine Ln to Bloom Rd.  Getting thin on 10E on the trail after crossing Bloom Rd. Back in the woods still snow cover to Loon Lake Rd.  Alt 13S and 10W/13N both snow covered. Both directions.  Woods riding was & is the best with much more snow and trails are GOOD.  Trails along roads and crossings and wide open areas are thin, soft & sloppy.   The new snow will fix this.

Time to ride right now.  It’s March & temps rise to the 30’s during the day.  Going down into the low 20’s & teens at night which is holding the snow.

Groom will resume tonight.

With the number of accidents & fatalities this season remind you:

When you come upon a group of sleds in front of you on the trail.  Passing them can get you in trouble.   Have been seeing this all winter.  When an entire group passes, by the time the last sled passes, a sled could be coming from the other direction.

Remember as you ride & meet a groomer the equipment is NOT able to leave the trail due to it’s weight.  Pull over & stop.  Wait for direction from the driver.  Give ’em a thumbs up.  They groom so we can ride!

Please ride on the right side, slow down, limit alcohol & no off trail riding.

Eagle & Catfish Lake trails are still marked.  With the sun there is surface slush on the SNOW. If a lake is not marked it probably is not safe.

Trail Report – : Lac du Flambeau, Wisconsin – March 5, 2023

Reporter:Toulish1

Trail Conditions: Good

Snow Cover: Bare spot to 10″

Date of Report: March 5, 2023

Snowmobile Information:

Ok, so warm weekend and heavy traffic, but Hornshoe trails are going the distance like Rocky with Apollo Creed. ( Had to do laundry today, and it was on.) 17 from Mattke Rd to F is the worst. The sun has shood that up pretty good, but you can dart about and find snow. The trail that runs along F should be on a Hallmark card-it’s perfect. 17 North of F is good. Around Raven Lake in the clover leaf, some corners have ice, as do a few areas on the straightaway the sun can pounce on, but it is holding. Trail 5 into the casino is great – not as pristine as F trail, but close. 17 North from 5 is good, but mushy. Up in the Powell Marsh, there is good snow yet, with the exception of 150 yards or so fore and aft of the bridge. All bare. The bridge deck has a loose section of rubber sticking out. There is a solid path in the marsh around that area. Trail 1, Stearns Lake Road and East Boundary, I think are pretty good yet. No eyes on target today, but they were still very solid Friday night. Snow started about ten tonight, and the ground is white. Forecast is still for 4-6″ for today, since it is 12:01 now. High of 34 Monday, cloudy, 38 Tuesday, with Sun, but low 17. 35/20 Wednesday with clouds and snow-.5″. 31/24 Thursday with clouds and snow-.5-1″. 28/25 Friday with clouds, and weather and radar says 5-10″ snow. Heavens to Mergatroid, we are game on for another weekend? Let’s hope so. Mark
