All Conditions

Total of 5-6+- inches of SNOW.   Another inch or 2 moving in late morning.  Right now it’s snowing.  Looks like LES. Cold one this morning. 9 degrees. High of 20 today.  Then a March bounce up to 35 tomorrow during the day.  Teens at night until Tuesday then 20’s at night.  SNOW in the forecast for Wednesday & Thursday.  Get out & ride it when we got it.

As I have been reporting, it’s late season trails, conditions change fast. New SNOW has helped but trail are icy & rough.  Not a lot of traffic.  Woods trails are the best.  Rate ’em Good.  Icy road routes. Hope to ride again this afternoon.  Report tomorrow.

No grooming last night.

With the number of accidents & fatalities this season will keep reminding you:

When you come upon a group of sleds in front of you on the trail.  Passing them can get you in trouble.   Have been seeing this all winter.  When an entire group passes, by the time the last sled passes, a sled could be coming from the other direction.

Remember as you ride & meet a groomer the equipment is NOT able to leave the trail due to it’s weight.  Pull over & stop.  Wait for direction from the driver.  Give ’em a thumbs up.  They groom so we can ride!

Please ride on the right side, slow down, limit alcohol & no off trail riding.

Businesses on the 2 marked lakes, Catfish & Eagle have removed the barrels. Lots of slush & with temps dropping there was concern the barrels would freeze in & be hard to remove.

THINK COLD!!!  Keep DOIN’ THE SNOW DANCE!!

See ya on the trails!   Maybe this year we’ll ride ’til midnight on the 31st!

Trail Report – : Conover, Wisconsin – March 17, 2023

Reporter:snobuddies

Trail Conditions: Good

Snow Cover: 12-18″

Date of Report: March 17, 2023

Area Report:

With the warmer temps yesterday, most of the precipitation was rain. It changed over to snow late last night and dropped 3-4″ of fresh snow. Temps are staying low today and we are in a Winter Weather Advisory until Saturday morning for 3-8″ of lake effect snow and high winds.

With that, if you are out ridding, there will be ice under the fresh snow which can make corners slippery. High winds can bring down tree branches or the snow may drift in open areas. Please slow down and ride for these sudden changes in trail conditions.

I haven’t heard yet if the groomers will be out Friday and Saturday. You can always check the  Groomer Tracker app to see where we are and what has been done.

News and Reports:

  • A reminder to ride between the orange blazers. Be careful in corners as there is an ice layer under the snow. Ride Right ➡️ Ride Safe.
  • To see where the Groomer is at, check out  Groomer Tracker  Half the cost of the app comes back to Conover Sno-Buddies to support grooming operations.

Snowmobile Information:

Today, March 17 – Fundraiser at Club 45. Annual St. Patricks Day Corned Beef dinner. Money raised at this benefit go to the Sno-Buddies for trail maintenance. Come out and enjoy a Corned Beef dinner provided by the Payne Family.

Boulder Junction Snowmobile Club Trail Report – Friday, 3/17/2023

At 8:00 a.m. it’s 19 degrees out with light snow falling and a high of 21 degrees. Tonight, we will have a low of 9 degrees with an additional 1”-3” of snow.

We last groomed 2W and 15S early Wednesday morning. With last nights cool down and 2” of new snow, we will start grooming again tonight and tomorrow a.m.

We discussed the closing of our trails at the Vilas County Alliance meeting Wednesday night and agreed to let the weather dictate the closing date. Right now, the trails are rideable, but they have to close on March 31 regardless of weather.

We have 2 weeks left of the season, so get out riding this weekend as the trails should be in good shape!

Check in Monday, 3/20  for an updated trail report.

Enjoy our trails and local businesses this weekend and as always “Ride Right” and be safe.
