Trail Report: Manitowish Waters, Wisconsin – December 19, 2016

Trail Conditions: Fair

Snow Cover: 8-12″

Date of Report: December 19, 2016

Area Report:

Our trails are in fair condition. I would call them good but we have not groomed through our swamp sections yet. They are packed and frozen, with plenty of traffic over them, but we like to err on the side of caution. The riders that are out are happy with the conditions for this time of year. We are way ahead of the past 2 winters so that is very encouraging. In fact I would say we are pretty dog gone lucky for this time of year based on the warm fall. We groomed Saturday night, but are laying off until we see more snow. Some is in the forecast so I will keep you posted. Ride safe, stay warm and Merry Christmas!

As always, please check with your local chambers or snowmobile clubs for current conditions.

Trail Report: Bayfield County, Wisconsin – December 19, 2016

Trail Conditions: Closed

Snow Cover: Variable

Date of Report: December 19, 2016

Area Report:

We are beginning to have a nice base in some parts of the County, but snow conditions are variable and our trails are still closed. Water crossings are not safe and swamps still need to freeze down. Clubs are busy clearing and packing the snow on the trails so we have safe trails for everyone to enjoy. We didn’t get the huge snowfall that was predicted for this past weekend, but there is more snow in the forecast this week. Let’s keep hoping for lots of snow and cold temperatures.

If you’re looking for a place to ride, the Tri-County Corridor is always open!

Trail Report: Walworth County, Wisconsin – December 19, 2016

Trail Conditions: Fair

Snow Cover: 10-18″

Date of Report: December 19, 2016

Area Report:

We received another 7-10″ of snow over the weekend followed by very cold air.  Conditions vary widely throughout the county.  Some spots are good to very good others are poor to fair with blowing and drifting going on.  Snow depths vary across the county with more snow to the north than the south.   Conditions should improve as groomers get out to work the trails after the weekend traffic and drifting snow.  We are expecting a little more snow mid week with a slight warm up heading into the weekend which could effect our trail conditions.  Please keep checking the snow phone for updates 262-742-2664 as our warm up around Xmas holiday draws near.    We will post another update or two prior to the weekend.  Please stay on the marked trail!

Trail Report: Conover, Wisconsin – December 19, 2016

Trail Conditions: Early Season

Snow Cover: 8-9″

Date of Report: December 19, 2016

Area Report:

All Vilas County  trails opened last week, Thursday. We received another approximately 5″ Friday & Saturday. The snow was dry & fluffy but it was snow. Temps fell down below zero, so things set up pretty firm. Groomers have been out grooming the trails but I haven’t ridden yet. Tomorrow I will get out & have more complete report available.

Lakes have not been marked yet as far as I know. Stay off the ice until the lake trails are marked.

Snowmobile Information:

Don’t forget you need a WI trail permit to ride the state’s groomed trail system. Aggressive riding causes more trail damage than slower, less aggressive riding. Until the base gets built up & we get more snow to work with, groomers can only do so much  to repair damage.
