Reporter:Washburn County

Trail Conditions: Poor

Snow Cover: 4 inches

Date of Report: April 6, 2023

Area Report:

With the recent rain and warmer weather, trails have been in poor condition. Due to the temperatures at night and during the day our Forestry Department has decided to close our trails this Friday, April 7th. Please know that with the amount of snow still currently on the sides of the trails, the closing of gates will be difficult since most gates currently are still snow covered. Our Forestry Department asks that after Friday, if gates are still open for the trails to know that they are closed and to please stay off them. Gates will be fully closed once all the snow is gone. Thank you everyone for a great season.

Area Report:

It’s been an amazing season, but trails in the Lake Gogebic Area are officially done for the 22/2023 season!   We want to thank all who came to visit and enjoy and all those who work hard to make sure we have one of the very best trail systems in the country!    April is our mud season when the snow melts and makes way for Springtime when our waterfalls start to rage!    Walleye season opens back up May 15th and brings about some good fishing as we prepare for our summer season!    If you and your family have never been to the Upper Peninsula during the summertime, then you should consider making a trip to see a whole different perspective on the Western UP!   Groomers will be working throughout the year and are already recruiting for the 23/2024 season.   If you’re interested – please check out their facebook page or www.gogebicareagrooming.com    Thank you again for a great season and we will look forward to seeing you again next year!   Stay well friends!

Trail Report – : Spooner and Washburn County, Wisconsin – April 5, 2023

Reporter:Washburn County

Trail Conditions: Poor

Snow Cover: 4 inches

Date of Report: April 5, 2023

Area Report:

As of right now, trails are still open at this time. With the warmer weather approaching and less freezing temperatures at night, trails will most likely become soft and be in poor condition. Our Forestry Department is watching the trail conditions on a day to day basis to keep the public best informed. With that being said, rain that is in the forecast will probably do a number to the trail base. Trail closures are not set for a specific date at this time, but there is a high chance of it happening by the end of this weekend or sooner depending on weather.
