Trail Report: Sayner, Wisconsin – January 12, 2017

Trail Conditions: Excellent

Snow Cover: 6 average on the trail

Date of Report: January 12, 2017

Area Report:

Between Monday and yesterday – the area received around 12 inches +/-. The 8″ from Tuesday alone was heavier/wetter snow – JUST what the doctor ordered to allow our drags to finally fill more ruts & holes in the trail bed. Thanks to this – our trails now average in the Very Good to Excellent range – in areas with no logging. Still only fair to good within the logging areas. This is a picture from 11/15 from last night!

Image may contain: tree, outdoor and nature

Please continue to watch for logging ahead signs. Heed their warnings and obey the posted speed limits. Do NOT hassle or hinder the loggers. They can and if hassled – WILL shut the trail down.

Lets be careful out there!!!

Date of Report: January 12, 2017

Area Report:

Hi Everyone ~

I just wanted to give you a quick update today.  in the past 24 hours we have received at least another 10 to 12″ of snow.  Blowing and drifting helped pack all that great snow in.  There were whiteout conditions but today the sun is shining and the full moon tonight will have the woods glowing as well.  We now have a base of about 18″ and all trails are deemed in very good to excellent condition!!!  Our U. P. Thunder Riders Snowmobile Club continues to groom daily and has the trails in great shape.  Our trails include Trail 3 North, Trail 3 South to Wisconsin, Trail 2 East and West, and Trail 3 South.   Temperatures tonight will get down to 12 to 16 below zero, so please be careful out there.

Life is good in the Northwoods!  Come on up!

Trail Report: Forest County, Wisconsin – January 12, 2017

Trail Conditions: Excellent

Snow Cover: 10-12 inches

Date of Report: January 12, 2017

Area Report:

The wet heavy snow we received Tuesday and Wednesday was, dare I say, a little much all at once.  The clubs were out steady on both days doing a lot of panning.  The cold temps last night and through the weekend will help all the snow harden for an excellent base.  The clubs are still busy grooming and setting the trails up for that perfect weekend of riding you have been waiting for.

Trail conditions will vary throughout the county so please ride safely and responsibly.  Use caution when riding on lakes or frozen water as ice conditions can vary greatly.

The clubs that maintain the Forest County Trail System are made up of volunteers who work very hard to provide the best trails possible.  Please respect them while on the trail and allow them to do their job. If you come across the groomer, please give them some extra room.  It is a lot easier to move a sled off the trail than 40 feet of tractor and drag.

Remember, TRAILS ARE GROOMED DAY AND NIGHT.

Thank you for riding Forest County Trails, Snowmobiling’s best kept secret.

Date of Report: January 12, 2017

Area Report:

Townsend – Red Arrow Snowmobile – ATV Club – Why, it’s snowing, 25 degrees and 7-8 inches of wet heavy snow in the forecast! What an addition to the base we already have this will make. So continue your snow dances, they appear to be working. Trails still are in GOOD to VERY GOOD riding condition. Stand by for updates. Till then!

Lakewood – Paul Bunyan Snowmobile Club – The Lakewood area has already received 7 inches so far and its still snowing. We will have the groomers out in the morning to get the trails in shape. There is going to be strong winds tonight that may bring down some trees so we will be able to clean them up at the same time. I will report on trail  conditions after the groomers get back in. Ride safe.

Bagley and Brazeau – Joyriders Trails – 9 inches of new snow, the trails will be groomed Wednesday and Thursday all but some marshes still need to freeze up. The groomer drivers said the trails are still very good in many areas after the weekend and before the new snow. Can you help us out when you ride in the areas not groomed pack down the outside of the trails not just stay in the middle of it, this will help freeze them up.

Gillett Sno ATV Riders – Grooming now and trails will open at noon today 1/10/2017.

Chute Pond Snowmobile Club – Chute Pond trails are open, being groomed, and in good condition. Our groomers will be out for the next several days working on the 7-9 inches of fresh snow we got today, with more on the way tomorrow. Overall trail conditions will improve once the groomers are able to cover the entire trail system.

Use caution and watch for the groomers, who could be out on the trails at any hour of the day or night.

Once the groomers catch up with all the fresh snow, we’ll update with any possible problem areas. Until then, enjoy your ride and please ride sober and safe out there.

Oconto Falls – Sno Jokers Trails –  Trails are open.

Lena Snow Drifters – Trails are open and will be groomed tonight.

Chase Sno-Chasers – Trails are open.
