Area Report:

As is typical for this time of year, certain trail segments can be opened and others are not ready yet due to wetland crossings and/or have restrictions due to private land easements.  It is critical that we respect the landowners who allow us to use their property. Please review the information below carefully before trail riding and confirm that you are using open trails.

Please note that on certain trails only segments of that trail may be open at this time. We anticipate frequent updates as the clubs report in with trails they have checked. In all areas where the winter recreational trails are closed the clubs are actively working on the getting the trails open.

Trail Report: Manitowish Waters, Wisconsin – January 24, 2017

Trail Conditions: Fair

Snow Cover: 8-12

Date of Report: January 24, 2017

Area Report:

Our trails are still snow covered with a pretty decent base. They are still a bit soft, for that reason i would call our trails fair/ poor.

We haven’t been grooming because of the warm weather, the snow tends to ball up like rolling a big snowball to build a snowman and tends to do more damage than good.

Looks like a chance of snow just about every day…..the temperatures drop a bit too.  We will be back out grooming with the cooler weather.

Date of Report: January 24, 2017

Area Report:

3:30 PM +35 deg.overcast

Well the last week has not been kind to those of us who like to ride.

We had temps that basically stayed above 32 deg.all week and day time highs

in the low 40’s along with sun, rain both light and heavy. As a result we lost about

6″ of our snow cover. Most area trails are fair at best.Paved routes are mostly bare.

We were forcast to get 4+ inches of new snow late this evening and early tomorrow

morning but has been scaled back to about 1″Also temps are going to be back near

normal later this week which will help stop the melting.Until then we will have to wait

and see.We may try to get our with our groomers in the next few days and do what

we can.

As soon as things change for the better I will update.Dick

We have had warmer than usual temperatures, with most of last week above freezing even overnight. The trails do still have a thin base, but riding conditions are poor at this time. Lakes are reported to have standing water over ice. Snow is forecasted for Wednesday night into Thursday and temps should be dropping starting today and remaining below freezing through the rest of the week. At this time, all trails are open and the lake is ridable, but use extreme caution.

Trail Report: Bergland, Michigan – January 24, 2017

Trail Conditions: Poor

Snow Cover: Poor

Date of Report: January 24, 2017

Area Report:

The conditions around here are nothing to write home about and all we can hope is that they get better – which we know they will.     Several days of above freezing temps and some rain has taken a toll – however – temps look to drop below freezing starting tomorrow and will continue to hover in the mid 20’s for at least the next week.    While that is good news – we need those temps to drop down to single digits in order to freeze up the open water first.   So when you are praying for snow – please be sure to keep cold temps in the prayers :).    Our forecast is calling for 14 days of straight snow and John Dee’s forecast indicates 12-24” of snow between Jan 28-Feb 2nd.

We have guests in house who have been trailoring their sleds up to the Twin Lakes area.   They said it’s not that great – but it is rideable – somewhat.

We hope to have better news to report – but that’s where we stand at present.

Think Cold and Snow!

The Cross Country Cruisers will resume grooming Operations starting tonight. The temps are going to be back in our favor later tonight and there is snow in the forecast so this will allow us to start putting are trails back in shape. The trails in town and the road routes took the hardest hit. Also the road crossings where the salt and sand gets drug up on the trails. Trails in the woods held up fairly well, with the exceptions of some corners that have become bare. We will do are best to get our trails back in great shape. This will take a couple nights of grooming and some new snow. So lets all keep doing the SNOW DANCE!!!

News and Reports:

Cross County Cruisers will be having an Open House on Sat. Feb. 18th! Head over to our website and FB page for more info! WWW.SNOWMOBILEWI.COM.
