Trails Very Good Condition

New snow Sunday, Monday & Tuesday with a schiff yesterday have brought the trails to Very Good Condition.  There does not look to be any problems to report anywhere.  Might be a few road trails that are thin but most have a snow covering along side.  Even the snirt has pretty much gone away.  Some at a few crossing right in Eagle River.

Trail Boss reports trails 13N, Alt 13, 17N, 3N, 1N, 10W/13N. ALL TRAILS ARE OPEN. Gates & fencing are down & the WI River Bridge section of Trail 10W/13N is OPEN.

Catfish Lake Loop & Eagle Lake Trails are open & safe by the orange reflective barrels. No surface slush because no evil sun.  If you ride past a ice fisherman remember to slow way down. Also remember there is a 55 miles speed limit dusk to dawn even on the lakes.

St. Germain Groomer Show at Arrowhead Drags continues today 9am-2pm.  Right on the trail.

Trail Report: Bayfield County, Wisconsin – February 1, 2017

Trail Conditions: Fair

Snow Cover: 6-12″

Date of Report: February 1, 2017

Area Report:

Some much welcomed fresh snow fell on all of Bayfield County early this week. Our groomers are back out in full force getting the trails in shape for the weekend. The fresh snow is sitting on top of ice and many areas of the county. Expect varying trail conditions ranging from good to poor. Trails are generally rideable with some icy, slushy, and bare spots. Trails in open areas/fields have very little to no snow cover. Use caution for exposed rocks, wet areas and icy conditions as trails are still recovering from the warmer temperature.

Under normal circumstances, winter ATV use is permissible only on snowmobile trails that are also ATV trails in the summer.  The warmer temperatures have created wet, sensitive and highly variable trail conditions.  As a result, ATV use has the potential to damage the system and create additional problems when colder temperatures return.  Until further notice, all ATV use is prohibited on the snowmobile trails.  This includes tracked or wheeled ATVs and UTVs. However, ATV use is still allowed on the Tri-County Corridor and Town Road routes.

We’ve opened back up Trail 13 South out of Washburn to the Tri-County Corridor and Trail 31 South in Barnes. Please use caution on these trails.

These trails remain closed:

  • Trail 4 East and West out of Mason
  • Trail 63 South out of Mason to Grand View

We will post a more detailed trail report on Friday once our groomers get a chance to assess trail conditions.

Trail Report: Crivitz, Wisconsin – February 1, 2017

Trail Conditions: Good

Snow Cover: 6 to 8 inches

Date of Report: February 1, 2017

Area Report:

Hi All…

Total snowfall in the last two days is approximately four inches.  All three groomers are out there doing their magic.  Overall, most of the trail is good to very good condition.  There are some high-traffic areas that are somewhat thin on snow, but passable.  Some spots where water was sitting due to the warm temps, may not be frozen through.  Be aware of this…could be very rough and/or deep!  Also, the lakes are frozen, but very rough, also due to our previous warm temps.

The weather forecast looks like cooler temps…this will help keep our trail together.  More snow predicted for the weekend.

Have a great ride!

Trail Report: Keweenaw Peninsula / Houghton-Hancock, South Range, Copper Harbor, Michigan – February 1, 2017

Trail Conditions: Good

Snow Cover: 24″-36″

Date of Report: February 1, 2017

Area Report:

Trails her in the Keweenaw from Copper Harbor to Twin Lakes are in pretty good shape with the snow that we have received so far this week.  Temps are staying around 20 for the rest of the week during the day and low 20’s for the weekend.  Nights are low teens.  Groomers are running every day and will try to keep up with all the traffic that is on the trails.  There is a lake effect snow warning starting tonight, suppose to get 2-3″ today and another 3″ overnight.  This snow has really put the trails back into good shape.

Trail 122 from Lake Linden to Gay is closed for logging.  You can take trail 122 to get to the Dreamland trail, but do not go any farther.  Trail 133 between Gay and Lac LaBelle has some wet spots (should be getting better) and is a little rough.  To get into Gay, you can take Trail 124 in and out to the main trail.

Remember when out on the trails to respect private property and others out on the trails, stay off of the ice, slow down (its not a race), and save the drinking for after the driving!!

Happy Trails from the Trail Goddess!

Trail Report: Boulder Junction, Wisconsin – February 1, 2017

Trail Conditions: Good

Snow Cover: 8-10

Date of Report: February 1, 2017

Area Report:

Trail report for February 1, 2017-Trails are in good condition. With the continued below freezing temps and the couple of inches of snow the last couple of days there is just enough snow to groom out a nice trail. We still need more snow because the corners are still icy and not much snow in the logging areas and other portions but most of the trail system is pretty good. Any amount of snow more than a dusting will help. Although there may not be much snow in the forecast in the near future there is a continuation of cold temps below freezing. Our Groomers were out this morning and will be out tonight. We need snow and cold weather!!!   Please be careful out there! Remember be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.

BJSC President
