Area Report:

Townsend – Red Arrow Snowmobile – ATV Club – We received 2″-3″ of fresh snow since yesterday and the groomers will be out later today. It’s cold out again and the trails should hold up well. Just remember that under that fresh snow is some ice, so be careful. Paul Bunyan has closed the stretch of trail behind Backwoods Bar because of water. They broke through with their groomer last Friday. So to get through to Burnt Dam Rd. you have to ride around the corner on Sawyer Lake Rd. and jump back on the trail. The Red Arrow system is in GOOD TO VERY GOOD riding condition.

Lakewood – Paul Bunyan Snowmobile Club – The Lakewood area got about 2 inches of fluffy snow with a little more coming down. Later today the groomers will be out getting the trails back in shape. Remember there is a lot of ice under the fresh powder.

Bagley and Brazeau – Joyriders Trails -I hate to report this but we are keeping the trails close for the weekend, do to the water on the trails and fields have very little snow on them also we only ended up with 1/2”of snow no good for grooming. Maybe Monday we will get more snow and then we can open the trails back up

Gillett Sno ATV Riders – Trails are open and in poor to fair condition.

Chute Pond Snowmobile Club – Chute Pond trails are open, and grooming on a regular basis. Our trails are thin, with a very icy base- which with even light traffic gets exposed in and around the corners.

The Nicolet State Trail (railroad grade) is in poor condition south of Breed, and in fair to good condition north of Breed. Wooded trails west of Hwy 32 are in groomed and in fair to mostly good condition- wooded trails east of Hwy 32 are still a work in progress. Groomers are trying to improve their condition- but for now they’re in poor to fair condition, with some areas better than fair.

Please be aware that the groomers may be out day and night as needed to get the trails back into shape. Please watch out for the groomers, and give them space when you see them.

Expect some rough and bare spots, some standing water and slushy spots, and probable icy areas, especially near the corners. Please ride with caution- and stay on the marked trails.

Oconto Falls – Sno Jokers Trails –  Trails are CLOSED.

Lena Snow Drifters – Trails are CLOSED.
Chase Sno-Chasers – Trails are CLOSED.

Trail Report: Sayner, Wisconsin – January 31, 2017

Trail Conditions: Good

Snow Cover: 2 to 3 inches on the trail

Date of Report: January 31, 2017

Area Report:

I have spoken with riders that have been in the area for a few days.  They report that when they got here – the trails they rode were flat but very hard with not a lot of loose snow for slide lube. Yesterday – we were on the bottom of the forecasted 3 to 5 inches (About 2 inches as of this posting). However, what we received has put down enough for lubrication and cooling to not be a problem. Add on to that the hard & crusty base underneath and we have some really awesome trails again. It is snowing currently in Sayner as I type. Riders are reporting that most lake crossings are very rough.

Even with the great base and fresh snow on top – many corners and southern facing hills are very icy. Ice picks and fresh carbides are a plus! Trails close to towns will almost always be rough and snirty.

Logging continues on several areas of our system. Always watch for logging ahead signs no matter where you are or whose system you are on. Heed the warnings and obey the posted speed limits. DO NOT hinder or hassle the loggers. They have the legal option to shut the trail down – probably for the remainder of the season. A couple areas where they are working; they plan on being in there for 2 years so if they shut the trail down for this season – it could impact next season as well. Here is a link to an article we posted at the beginning of the season. I list where we have logging going on within the Barnstormer’s system. Currently, there is little to no activity on Trail 7 north and south of Star Lake. But it could start back up again at anytime. They have at least temporarily moved over on Boulder’s Trail 8 (Camp 2 Rd). Just an FYI that logging trucks are hauling on Vandercook Rd on the Cruisers trail.

PLEASE! Lets be careful out there!!!
