Trail Report – : Lake Gogebic, Michigan – December 1, 2017

Area Report:

Good Morning and Happy Friday from all of us on Lake Gogebic!  We all know that snowmobile trails are scheduled to “officially” December 1 – however, that is just not going to happen.   We received a lot of snow early last month, but out of the 30 plus inches that fell in early November, almost all of that is gone.    What we need is for the ground to freeze up first before we get pummeled with snow.    With cooler temperatures and Northwest winds scheduled to show up early next week, we can probably count on our Lake Superior Snow Machine should be turned on shortly after that.    There is snow in the forecast about 6-8 days out, and John Dee’s is also saying that there is 12-24 inches of snow  forecasted from Dec. 5-10 .

Having said all that – we still strongly urge all of our guests and friends to dance, dance, dance!!!!   Send us your photos of you and your friends doing your snow dance – between now and the first snowfall of 6 or more inches.    We will give our friends an opportunity to vote on their favorite “Snow Dancers” and the winning group will win a $50 lodging gift certificate from the Walleye Lodge.   Photos may be sent to iceman@walleyelodge.com.

We have been very busy at the Lodge getting ready for your arrival.    Just about finished with the bathroom and room renovation on the Northern suite, and then headed over to the Walleye for some new carpet and siding.   Mary Beth and her team have also been busy getting all our units and suites ready to welcome back our snowmobilers and ice fishermen!

Don’t forget – Lake Gogebic Iceman Tournament – Jan 20-21st!    (www.walleyelodge.com/ice-fishing-tournament/

We’ll keep you updated and we are just as anxious for the snow as you are!   We look forward to seeing you soon!
