Snow Cover: Poor

Date of Report: January 31, 2024

Area Report:

Not good news to report as far as snow and trails go here in the Western UP.   Groomers are back in their barns until we get some more snow.   Mother Nature is not being kind to say the least.  We will be the first to let you know when conditions are rideable!    We are hoping for a good late season and have some fun parties planned.    Stay positive – that’s all we can do!

March 16th:      GROOMER BARTENDING BENEFIT at AJ’s where the groomer step behind the bar and all tips go directly to them.

March 16th:      AJ’s Polaris XCR 850 Giveaway at 9:00 p.m.

March 24:        Lake Gogebic Area Poker Run and Vintage Ride

Trail Report – : Hurley, Wisconsin – January 30, 2024

Reporter:hurley@hurleywi.com

Trail Conditions: Poor

Snow Cover: 0-4

Date of Report: January 30, 2024

Snowmobile Information:

There is no sense in describing every rock, bare spot, slush, and plowed road. Things around here and in Michigan are not great. We had groomers out early Saturday and Sunday mornings to pull in whatever snow is left. Our crystal ball shows nothing great for a couple weeks or longer, but it’s fairly cracked from us throwing it repeatedly this season, so who knows 🙄 Keep the Faith and please support our local businesses when you come to our area

Trail Report – : Hayward / Sawyer County, Wisconsin – January 30, 2024

Trail Conditions: No Snow

Date of Report: January 30, 2024

Area Report:

A warmup is underway and will drastically change the conditions of our trail and lake system this week. We hope to provide a comprehensive update as soon as we hear from local clubs who are out monitoring the situation. Please use caution if you plan to ride. A lake that was staked over the weekend might not be staked today or later into the week.

For your safety and the safety of others following your tracks – DO NOT RIDE UNSTAKED LAKES!

While listing our conditions as poor is not something we want to do, we must warn and provide information with complete transparency. We hope you can still visit even if you don’t ride your snowmobile and visit the surrounding businesses! They would love to see you and would really appreciate your support.  Our local businesses are working together to continue to offer fun activities and great deals!

The beauty of Sawyer County; if you can’t ride your sled, you can ride your ATV/UTV.  Our ATV/UTV trails are open!  Don’t have an ATV/UTV borrow one from a friend, rent one from an area rental business, or if you are feeling spontaneous there are area businesses that sell them.  If you choose to venture out on ATV/UTV, just make sure you follow the map and always know the legend on a map. “Read before you Ride”

Area Report:

The dry streak continues. We have gotten little flurry clippers go thru, but that has been it. The temps have been warm, and we will continue that streak this week. The temps are suppose to drop next week, but I haven’t seen any snow in the forecast yet. The systems are ridding to the far south on that El Niño path.

There is another UTV club ride going on this weekend, February 3rd. They are meeting at Wild Turkey in Conover at 9:30am. For more details, check out the Landover ATV page on Facebook.

Also, Dublin Sports Bar is hosting a weekend Poker Run. Check out their Facebook page for locations and details.

Wish we had better news, but we are holding on to hope for a late season all the way to the end of March.

Trail Report – : Iron County, Michigan – January 29, 2024

Trail Conditions: Not Ridable

Snow Cover: 2 – 3 inches

Date of Report: January 29, 2024

Area Report:

Hello everyone,  Nothing new to report to you as yet… still waiting for that big snow storm… or several smaller clippers to come in and give us about 12 -18 inches of snow cover. This seems to be a very odd winter no matter where one lives this year. Clubs with their groomers and operators are just waiting to get out on the trails this season. We know it’s coming.. we’re just not sure when and for how long it will last. 😉  I know once we do receive enough snow for grooming…  our trails will be beautiful. Grooming snow is the largest income for the Clubs and helps them to pay for the repairs and bills throughout the year.  So don’t feel that it’s too late in the season to bring those bad boys out on the trail… if there is enough snow… temps are cold enough and it’s not April 1st, Iron County groomers and operators will be out on the trails doing the best job possible to keep our trails smooth for your riding!! 😉

Again, we still have 2/months in the season… COME ON SNOW!!  It’s OUR TIME to PLAY!!  🙂

Trail Report – : Hayward / Sawyer County, Wisconsin – January 26, 2024

Reporter:haywardlakes

Trail Conditions: Poor

Snow Cover: 0-5

Date of Report: January 26, 2024

Area Report:

After a few warm days this week, lakes are going to be the best riding, if you choose to ride.  The trails off the lakes are going to be thin and may get mushy.  Some reports have said that the designated fire lane trails vs regular trails are the best way to get from point A to point B if you choose to go on a trail.

The lakes are rideable but please do so with caution as they are icy and have patchy snow coverage. Always stay on the staked trail. Over the next week crews will monitor for slush pockets or any other dangers and we will update as needed.  Always ride with caution and use your best judgement as anything can change at any given time. Swamp lands are not solid, so we would advise avoiding them.

Lakes that are staked are:

Moose Lake

Nelson Lake

Barker Lake

Spider Lake

Tiger Cat Flowage

Lost Land Lake

Lac Courte Oreilles

Grindstone

Sand Lake

Chippewa Flowage (including the River and dam area)

Whitefish Lake

Callahan Lake

Little Round Lake

Osprey Lake

Big Round

LAKES NOT STAKED:

Long Lake

Sissabagama

Chetac

For your safety and the safety of others following your tracks – DO NOT RIDE UNSTAKED LAKES!
