TRAIL REPORT:  WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 5, 2018

Here it is December!  Another season is upon us, with 3 to 6 inches of early snow throughout the trail system.  Mother Nature is calling for colder weather which we need to freeze up a stronger base and also our lakes and wet areas.

It has been a busy fall.  The maintenance is done on most of the equipment and trail.   We have a new tractor that will be delivered in a couple weeks.

Please take note of the new signage on our trail.  You will find these new signs on 22 of our major intersections.  Every business that supports the Iron Snowshoe is listed on these signs with directional arrows.  Please support the businesses that support the trail system.  Also, a BIG thanks is going out in support for the time and hard work put into these signs.  (it took approximately 2 years to complete this project)

We do need more snow to work with, so keep an eye on the weather forecast and our trail reports as well.

Thank you

Trail Report – : Lake Gogebic | Bergland, Michigan – December 5, 2018

Reporter:AJ’s Walleye Lodge

Trail Conditions: Early Season

Snow Cover: Early Season

Date of Report: December 5, 2018

Area Report:

Gogebic Area Groomers were out on Tuesday on the East side of Lake Gogebic from Bergland to the Root Cellar (trail 13). The Marenisco crew went down from Marenisco to the Ojibway Rd (trail 1).   Early conditions prevail and riding is at your own risk.  Not highly recommended as there are stumps, rocks, and wet areas. Frigid temps move in Friday and will hopefully help to firm up the trails. It won’t be long now and we’ll be seeing everyone soon!   We will be posting 3x per week this season to keep everyone updated!

Get your Christmas shopping done and all your presents wrapped so you can come on U.P. and get in on some of our great snow and trails!

That’s it for now – we’ll see you soon!

All Cedarville Trails are in and marked except the trail going to Winslow and that may not be open all winter because of the flooding along the Pecatonica river. The trails are to open the 15th if we get snow. It takes at least 4″ of snow. If you ride our trails this winter PLEASE STAY ON TRAIL as we do have some winter wheat again this year. I will update if the snow comes

VILAS COUNTY SNOWMOBILE TRAILS TO INCLUDE SNO-EAGLES TRAILS ARE CURRENTLY CLOSED

Yesterday the Trail Boss was out with Vilas County Parks & Rec staff inspecting the funded trails. Swamps & wet areas are freezing up. Today the volunteers will go out & correct any errors found during inspection.

Panning did begin December 2.

Then it is a waiting game. First there are deer hunts going on. Right now it is the 10 day Muzzleloader Season followed by the 4 day Anterless Hunt.

There also a need for more COLD weather & SNOW. Sno-Eagles Country did get some SNOW yesterday with varying totals. More east about 5-6 inches with totals less heading west & south.

So time to THINK COLD & to start DOIN’ THE SNOW DANCE.

It won’t be long now but please don’t be tempted to get out on the trails. It will jeopardize the easements. Be patience.

See ya out on the trails real soon!
