Slowly but surely the base in Washburn County is beginning to build with a little bit of snow here and there. Hopefully the flakes will start to fall again soon so the trail can get up to grooming standards. We look forward to another great winter of snowmobiling in Washburn County! Keep thinking snow!

We had an active weekend on the Trails, both with Grooming activity and riders. Groomers were able to get out reported that for the most part the trails were in good shape, however there was more traffic than they had anticipated. Groomers are putting trails back together and still requesting that riders hold off until we get some additional snow.

Weather is going to be quiet with temperature in high 20’s/low 30’s, with the potential for some light snows mid week.
Trail 8 East: Trail has been brushed and drag was taken out for first time on 12/10. Group effort between GAG, MI-Trale and help from the Sno Valley Riders Snowmobile Club.
Trail 8 West: Trail opened near County line and groomers are asking riders to Trail 8 West so they can get the wet areas frozen.
All other trails have been packed and groomed – but for now we are just waiting on more snow for perfect conditions

*** please use caution when riding the trails***. This is just not our trails but all area trails.

We ask that you respect our area, as local residents are complaining to the Groomer Clubs and the DNR about the trespassing taking place on their properties. We know that riding powder is fun, but do so respectfully and don’t cross on private property. When you do, it creates problems with the landowners. At the landowner’s discretion – they can shut access down and then we’ll have to go to the expense and time to figure out a re-route – if that’s even possible.
Groomers are working hard to get you the trails you want to ride. Help us out and we will all have a much better season – this season – and next!

The Frosty Club trails have passed inspection and we are awaiting a county wide opening date, Hopefully soon. Swamps are solid so we are just waiting for the opening bell and some more snow. Not a Great Forecast. The groomers are out panning and are actually grooming some of the trails in the UP, eh. Lac Vieux Desert is marked with barrels from Sunrise Lodge to the West shore boat landing and over to Thunder Bay Resort.

News and Reports:

Sunrise Lodge is hosting the Snowmobile Club Benefit Breakfast this Saturday and Sunday from 7:30 AM until 11:00 AM. $12.00 for Adults and $5.00 for kids—ALL U CAN EAT breakfast. All money taken in goes to Trail Grooming. Call Phil at 715 547 6199 for more info.

Snowmobile Information:

Snowmobile Safety Class is a Go. A one day class between Christmas and New Years. Call Sarah at The Alley for more info.

VILAS COUNTY SNOWMOBILE TRAILS TO INCLUDE SNO-EAGLES EAGLE RIVER TRAILS ARE CURRENTLY CLOSED

December 11, 2018 7:24am 21 degrees

Sno-Eagles Trails have been inspected by the County Parks & Rec Dept. & are ready to go. Just one more Club to inspect by the Vilas County Parks & Rec Dept. today. Then all 11 clubs of the Vilas County Snowmobile Alliance will meet to determine an opening date.

Until then the groomers in Sno-Eagles Country have been out panning the trails. From the looks of it most every trail has been panned. We could use more SNOW but the good news is that the swamps & wet mushy areas have frozen up.

Cloudy today but not much SNOW in the forecast. Time to DANCE.

It’s a waiting game at this point. Keep DOIN’ THE SNOW DANCE & THINKING COLD!
