Area Report:
Trails in Oneida county open at 5:00 pm on Saturday and 9:00 am for Vilas county on Saturday this weekend, keep in mind that the trails are in early season riding condition and you may encounter some holes or ruts that need more snow to fill in and make them smooth. Groomers will be out panning when the temps drop below freezing tomorrow night. Corners may be icy and slick so keep your speed down and be safe. Do not ride on lakes that are not marked like lake Minocqua, there is thin ice by 51 bridge so do not go near this area till it has been drilled and tested and marked. If you are staying at the point resort by the bridge you will have to trailer them to the trail. Big Arbor Vitae and little arbor vitae lakes have been marked and safe for riding. So now on to weather, only a couple inches out of this last storm and plenty of rain with it so right now they are soft and slush, temps are dropping tomorrow night and going down in the teens so should be a good base once they freeze up, our next clipper coming in is around Monday or Tuesday with a couple more inches.

Trails in Oneida County will be opening Saturday December 29 at 5 p.m. They will be panned & rough in swampy areas but have been packed & may encounter some water in areas. Use caution of changing conditions as they will be in early season riding conditions.

The club is panning tonight and getting ready to groom when the temps drop Friday,

Weather predictions of up to 12″ of snow have fallen quite short of expectations. On top of that, we are getting rain/snow mix today with temps in the mid 30’s. They claim the storm isn’t over yet and to remain hopeful for snow overnight. Temps are expected to cool which will help give us a decent base if we can get some snow on top of what we have now. U.P Thunder Riders Snowmobile Groomers have not been out as there isn’t enough snow currently. If you do go out, expect pre-season conditions.
